I've had the worst time with Dizzy and hunting animals. With NPCs like Stormtroopers, all is well and good, they get Dizzy, they get KD'd, they're hosed. I've noticed animals tend to ignore the Dizzy state altogether and stand up seconds after a KD, regardless of the states attached to them.
Just thought I would put this up and see if I am not alone in this.

Currently Dizzy/KD does not work on most creatures. I'm not sure if its a bug or just the way the game is designed.

I think this is by design. "You can't do it on quadrupeds" or something to that effect. Although it doesn't actually work on any non-NPC mobs.

I had always assumed it was a four legged thing. That being said, testing it on two legged animals might be good here - Kaadu come to mind.

While we're on the two or four legged question, what about 6 or 8 legs? (Klikniks and gaping spiders and whatnot.)

I would assume 6 or 8 legs would be even more stable.

It doesn't work on animals. Gurks, Kaadu, Kwi, Veermok etc. Also doesn't work on flying animals. Basically if it's not an NPC it won't work.
