Howdy folks,

I'm working on becoming a Master Doc. Currently I'm using pistols, reasoning was that they have very low ham costs and fire fast. I thought pistols would be a good choice for a doc as I am very often in the thick of things with my group.

I start firing on the target as soon as its engaged by the group, apply my bleeds then start scanning for hurt buddies. Somewhere around mid fight a parity is usually reached where most people are well healed and the monster recieving focused fire from everyone, and usually fighting with a pet. This is when I can start doing my specials again. With pistols I'm just not doing much damage, my best shots are doing between 400-650 or so. My average unstyled shot is 200-240.

BTW, I'm carrying one pistol of each damage type and switch according to monster. Primarily use a DX2.

With pistol 0,3,1,2 I'm pretty fast and don't miss.

Down side with pistolsis thatI'm more or less just tickling what ever I'm shooting at.

So I wondered what you folks think. Ive started up the Carb marksman tree now, I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with it. I play a support roll and it seems to me that a Carbineer fits that roll better than a pistoleer.

Now after Ive described my play style I have a question on Carb progression. Which tree do you recommend I climb first. I'm leaning towards the (accuracy tree) first as it will raise my unspecialized dps as I'll miss less. This is important because during any given fight I'm way more concentrated on healing folks than I am with doing my specials.

Does this sound right?

Greetings, and congrats on your choice to be a Doc... self-buffing is the only way to fly!!

As to Carbineering, I love my support role in groups by either being the state-applier/kd'er/mob-stopper (/as2)/field general (doc gets to give orders in an experienced party) and by dealing out the hurt with FAA2/FAS2/CrippleShot

while the HAM issue and the lack of damage types is still a huge issue, many problems that face Carbineer can be overcome by SMART play and TACTICS... and as a Doctor HAM should NEVER be an issue for you!

the path I chose to follow in leveling Carbineer is as follows: (the combat xp tree will advance itself)

0010 = BurstShot1 This and FAS1 are going to be your bread and butter shots...

301X = ScatterShot2 and a HUGE difference in speed... more speed = more DPS = faster kills

331X = CrippleShot Our highest damage multiplier shot... you'll love this one... but you'll want the speed first

441X = more speed and a +25 accuracy bonus... always nice

then to Master...

obviously I'm not there yet, but upon reading this board and thru the great advice here, I've had GREAT success so far

Best of luck!
