Thread: Wondering about armor and gun
They have differnet damage.
I'm not certian on the exact formula, but basically the damage ismultiplied by 1.25 for each level of AP greater than the target's AR (which is why the T21's with AP3 do almost 2x damage against unarmored targets). If the AR is greater than the AP, the damage is halved for each point by which the AP is lower.

Hello,
I would like to know if the weapon AP matter when you fire on a target with no armor rating or a rating below the gun AP ?
Example :
Elite carbine AP1 100/130 with 3.0 speed damage against a creature with no armor
Laser carbine AP2 100/130 with 3.0 speed damage against a creature with no armor
Do they both do the same damage ?
I never thought of it before... I never have used a gun before
the elite carbine will get a 1.25 modifier applied to it since ap1>ar0. (so dmg *1.25 = piercing dmg)
the laser carbine will get a 1.25 modifier, then a 2nd 1.25 modifier applied to it since ap2>ap1>ar0. (so dmg *1.25 *1.25 = piercing dmg)
then again, vulnerabilities are bugged, if something is vulnerable to a dmg type (in this case energy), then there will be no piercing modifiers applied...even w/ a t21 raw dmg = piercing dmg. this is why a creature w/ light armor and 5% energy resist takes more dmg from a laser carbine than a creature w/ light armor and energy vulnerability. makes no sense in reasoning, but them's the breaks.
