Carbineer Archive

This weekend the LFD guild (Bria's imperial powergamer clan) organised their 4th "Extravaganza- Fight Night" 1v1 duelling competition. It generallyattracts the best pvp (1v1) players on the server.

As a Master Carbineer / Doc dabbler / Novice brawler, i came 2nd.

I'm not preaching that Carbineer is great for pvp, because ultimately i won using my exceptional carbine (500 tick mind poison). Then again, the better players there also wield high end dots (250+ mind fires): who is to say Pikeman with a dot is any more or less skilled than I with a carbine?

All of my duels were against people with doctor in their templates, which meant poison resist buffs/cures to counter my dot. All of these guys will have had relatively low state defenses, which meant i could defend myself with blind/stun/intimidate, and get the kd/pd + dizzy as well. The majority of my foes found themselves with all the states stuck on them, and me alternating between KD and PD knockdowns with dizzy (not to mention the tick).

I certainly used all of the carbineers tools to my advantage, and let the poison tick do my damage(because let's face it, against a x/doc fighter who is buffed and wearing 40/90 composite, there is little chance you will do enough mind damage with scatter2- especially if they are a swordsman or rifleman with a mind pool attack raining in on you).

I don't think i'm some highly skilled player: i recognise my weapon is what won it for me; nevertheless, i still fought in the final duel with my Master Carbineer title proudly on display.

I do alright in pvp without using dots, and i certainly can't see me ever dropping Carbineer.

And nice to hear an honest report of being a Carbineer in PvP.....DoT's still rule.....I just wish my new EE3 was Mind instead of Action, but I take what I can get and for 250k I thought it was a great deal
