Thread: reaching the speed cap
If you are going for master carbineer, which I assume you are after reading your post. You will need a weapon with 2.5 speed. In other words the standard laser carbine with either a speed slice or a speed powerup (depending on your taste).
Another option is to look for a carbine speed skill enhancer, you need it pretty high, at least compared to those I've seen for sale. To shoot the standard 3.7 speed laser carbine at speed cap you need 73 speed. You only have 60 at master, in other words you need a +13 carbine speed skill enhancer.
Anyways those are pretty much your options as it is now.
By this I mean, if a weapon is 2 speed, and you have say 75 carbine speed, the speed of the weapon is .5 seconds. With the speed cap you will fire this weapon every 1 second. Now, say you use a style like cripple shot which i believe has a 3x speed modifier from the last time i checked, although i could be wrong. Does this mean that using cripple shot you will fire every 1.5 seconds, or ever 3 seconds? I haven't done much testing on this really but it seems to me that the gun seems to be firing at 1.5 speed. If someone could test this and post some hard numbers it would be appreciated, maybe SOJ could ask the dev in charge of ranged weapons.

i already have master carbineer. i also have a decent 2.5 speed laser carbine. but, while i might be shooting at full speed using autoattack, crippleshot has a speed penalty. i keep hearing about how BH carbine can shoot cripple at the cap because they have enough speed bonuses to overcome cripple's delay.
i would like to know if that is the only route to reach cripple's speed cap. things like getting extra speed from master marksman, or just a really fast carbine.

I'll bring that up when I get the chance.

There is some sort of special delay on a weapon, it seems, but I don't know how it works. Its easy to see that Burst Shot refires quicker than Crippling Shot but I don't know why and how that's done. I do know that with BH Carbine + Speed, you will hit the speed cap for any special, even Crippling Shot. Even with a 4.0 or so Laser Carb, I was firing at every second with crippling shot around +90 speed.
reading in other threads, i see that BH carbine mixed with carbineer is a common way to go. the BH line gives massive speed mods. however, without going BH, can a carbineer get close to the cap with master marksman the way riflemen do?
and without getting anything except for carbineer skills, how fast must a weapon be to hit the speed cap? 1.5 speed?
The exact forumla should be pretty much like this.. I'm just making this up cause I'm too lazy to dig up a good post with it, so there might be a better way to write it, but it should be accurate ![]()
Actualspeed = Weaponspeed * Specialdelaymod * (1 - (Speedmod / 100))
So if the speedmod reaches 100 or above, it'll always result in multiplying with 0 or negative, making the whole equation result in 0 or negative whatever the weaponspeed / specialdelays are. And then you just get bumped up to the 1 sec speed cap.
Yeah I was, and usually do, talking normal shots at speed cap. I didn't take the delays into account that you get from specials - most noteable from crippling shot.
Besides you wouldn't want to spam any of our specials too fast ![]()
