Hello and thanks for your time!

I am Marksmen 0-0-4-4 and Carbineer 0-0-0-0

WouldI be better of to drop my Ranged Weapon Support and go with a Carbineer tree?

Say, Marksmen 0-0-4-0 and Carbineer 0-4-0-0

Thanks for your advice! running out of skill points is a bummer...

unless you are in love with warningshot (and some people are), go ahead and drop it. elite profession skills are generally better than novice profession skills. which tree of carbineer is up for debate of course. i like the speed (mercenary) line the best because it has a decent damage attack (scattershot2), a very good AOE attack (wildshot2) and it increases speed. plus the title is really cool. i get lots of /tells asking me where that title comes from. :-)

Yeah i droped it too. I am marksman 0040 now. The specials you get in elite carbineer are much more usefull.

great thanks! heh, i have only used warning shot like once...so no loss there.

cool, so any other opinions on which tree to climb? since i have enough for one full tree and the upper parts of the tree are the best anyway, i figure i will just fill one instead of trying to spread the points out...

all opinions would be great!

i have been able to level a box in Carbineer for a while now but have been waiting to figure this out...

Theres no need for supression fire when carbineers get action shot 1 at novice. Warning shot isnt that great, unless you like abusing the exploit with it.

The skill mods arent much either, and Im not entirely sure they work, I dropped it.

Idealy you would want Maurader + Mercenary, but since you said you can only get 1, go with Maurader.

Accuracy is more important than anything I think, and crippling shot is our most damaging attack(if a bit unreliable).

Mercenary line gives +speed mods, which is good but don't total up to much, and the skills are largley useless(I only use Scatter 2).

Infiltrator is the most useless line. Counterattack is broken, and only Burst Shot 1 works, and its just a crappier version of Crippling shot.

Assault has Full Auto Area 1 & 2 which ARE usefull in my opinion - except in very limited scenarios, and you have to be really carefull that your cone will only hit what you want. Charge Shot 1 is ok, if your opponent is too dumb to realize he can stand up right away. Chargeshot 2 is broken.

i feel that crippleshot is very slow.... it's one of those skills that BH/Carbine can use effectively, but plain carbineers won't like as much. and with no speed mods from the mercenary line, i can't imagine how slow it must be. (i got the speed line first) if you aren't going to go with my first suggestion, then go with the assaulter line. you get fullauto attacks and charged shot. the latter has a stupid animation but is a knockdown and has a little secret that you might like. ;-)

thanks again for the advice...hmm, here is another bit of info...i am doctor, so for the most part a try and play a support character...not sure if that would make the cripple shot more useful, since i try not to be on the front line as much...

but i guess the knockdown (assaulter line) might be perfect for slowing people down while i try to help others...i think i heard another doctor say that is what they went with...

hmmm, tough choices since it takes me forever to gain my carbineer points...

That "exploit" with warningshot can be feasibly explained. Once the animal has been hit so many times by warningshot, it loses its sense. Of course, it would be better if our legshots could do what multiple warningshots do. That would make a harder case. But, whatever.

I personally an enamored with Warningshot, and use it and Actionshot 1-2 to protect a groupmate from attack (warningshot to shoo it away, actionshot to sit it down so my guy and get some distance).

I guess I must be one of those people "in love with" warningshot. There are pets that hit for 800s in PvP (e.g. bio-engineered gurrecks, grauls, rancors) and warningshot followed by /peace can stop them attacking you. It's not an exploit -- if it works, you scare the pet away and buy some time to attack its master.

no I love warningshots... they help alot =)... ppl just need to prefect it, if they stop running peace and then switch to another target.... I usually hit them 1 more warning shot so they get far away and don't agrro me again =)

hmm, good thoughts by everybody...

just for the sake of exploring all options...if i was to just drop Ranged IV and pick up one box of a Carbineer tree, which first level would you all recommend?

i will figure this out...with your help of course
