Carbineer Archive
Thread: SOJ any info from the corespondents forum?
hey just wondering if u talked to a dev there and mainly if they talked to u about the carbineer problems at all.
if so is there any info u can pass to us?
quite frankly time is going by and i had high hopes at least the ham costs were gonna be fixed in the publish that is on tc atm, well that did not happen in fact nothing happened for carbineers i mean.
i had a few not so nice things to say but i will keep it in and have a stiff drink. ![]()
Well I'm glad you kept your not so nice things to say for after this reply. ![]()
For the Correspondent Discussion, I cannot give out any information without permission. However, I don't think any serious combat-related changes are going to happen on this publish. Most of the combat-related things that you see on there were already announced or have already happened. Knockdown, currently on the TC, is a little buggy but KD should be more useful now and creatures should stay down for some time (right now they stay down forever). Knockdowns do more damage and have less HAM costs, and creatures stay down for a bit, but all of that was announced before. My guess was this this update was to deal more with armorsmiths/tailors and etc... and maybe the big combat update is next.
That's what I think. The most heated combat discussions should be coming very soon in preparation. I'm thinking of this point in time as the pre-game. The reasons why will remain here unclear, however, in the weeks to come I predict more results. The answers should be coming shortly.
Ah dammit...I just noticed SOJ is an Imperial ![]()
Anyway thank you for that update...even if you cannot give us concrete info, giving us your vibes and impression of what is going on (I am assuming that is allowed) helps alot.
I am sure myself and alot of others are only still in the class because we think changes are coming. However, everyone is getting impatient and to say good stuff is coming or nothing is on the horizon at all helps people alot. They can either toughen their resistance or move on.
I know I am growing tired and what is funny is the things that used to bother me no longer do. I have managed my HAM costs by upping my medic skills and befriending a doctor (they will become your own personal slave for a steady supply of meats). I have found the specials that work for me and the ones that dont are gone from my toolbar. The bee in my bonet these days are the advanced pistols. I have a FWG5 that is superior to all my carbines but my laser. This whole component stacking issue is the source of this problem. I am spending alot of time reading the weaponsmith forum and many smiths insist this needs to be fixed so stacked components add the bonuses they should (example...the 5 thingies to build a gun are only adding the effects of 1). However, on the flip side, if they do actually stack they would turn the guns into deathrays. Therefore, there is much debate about whether stacking is good or bad. For sure it is crippling everything but pistols because the stacks don't add, yet they require multiples which makes using advanced parts or tissues near impossible. In essence, the game to date is "balanced" on broken crafting and fixed the crafting make break the game. A total revamp of the crafting schematics is needed and when you think about it...its hard for carbineers to champion this cause since they aren't crafters and often don't understand these issues.
I've worn my Imperial Icon since day 1, I don't know if it always showed. But I hope that doesn't let people think less of others, considering that so many people get into that kind of stuff.. from camping or TEFing and etc.
About my vibes and impressions.. I just hope that it is subtle enough to not get in trouble. Nothing is concrete, except for the changes on the TC, in my post. I could be totally wrong, and that a combat update won't come out until next year. The thing is, I'm just as eager to get Carbineer fixed as anyone else. Changes for every combat profession are expected, the REAL collaborations between Correspondents and the Devs has really yet to begin. Things are going to get better, but I can't say when.
For what it's worth, the Musician Correspondent (me) is both a Novice Carbineer (2-1-1-1) and a rebel, so you have some extra informal representation in the Correspondent's forum.
I leave the talking to SOJ, but I do chime in with the occasional "yeah, what he said" and whatnot. Rest assured that he's representing our interests well.

Even the musicians recognize you just can't touch this.... ![]()
I'm enjoying Carbineer to no end right now... I was 0043 Marksman, attacked by some Rebel scum [on my 2nd char on Tempest]... I proceeded to kick his ass, despite the fact that he wore Novice Commando. Now, I realize it was a lucky cast on my part, but still... I don't think I'll ever pick up another weapon again.
