So I hit up the webpage today and goto the In Testing section and I get all excited. I see it is updated with a considerable large update and long list to read through. So I continue on, oh look a Professions section! Yay they fixed Carbineer and Squad Leader!! YAY! Oh....wait...no...no they didn't. Lots of fixes for other professions...Carbineer and Squad Leader not listed.

Unbelievable I say.

No no, dude. Its not bad. They had more important things to fix.

-Pets will no longer eat food when they aren't wounded.

-Bounty Hunter - Fixed bounty hunter targets turning white

-ImageDesigner - add human male freckles customization

-Community Screen - Fixed tips

-Male characters can now go shirtless.

Yes! Now the ladies can check out my fish pecs!

When everyone seems to be going from Carbineer to Pistoleer, I did just the opposite. I'm not sure if I'm too determined to be unique, a masochist, or both.

Why exactly is the bounty hunter problem listed with those other frivolous ones? How would you like to get a mission, travel across the map, maybe to another planet and find out the target is unattackable. The ONLY way to advance in investigation is bounty missions, if we can't advance then no mastery.

I am not saying the BH fix wasn't necessary or important. All I am saying is that there have been zero fixes since launch to either carbineer or squad leader, where as BH(as well as a whole slew of others) has had many fixes.

I think most carbineers just find it irritating that non-essentail fixes go in, while we have been suffering horrible bugs for the duration of SWG so far(IE HAM costs).

It's not that we dont want other professions fixed, its just its annyoing to see

"male characters can now go shirtless"

When they could of spent some time, I dont know, making sure our specials didnt take 100+ HAM.

You do understand those frivolous updates are done by a different designer. The combat designer is working his ass off to make everything right, its just he has a lot to do.

THE combat designer?
I boggled when I saw that thread myself. Let me rethink that. We have 275... thousand players. Most if not all players have some combat orientation. We have one combat designer? Is this the guy that can't get around to fixing 'you shoot a female mamien for 575 points but him dodges'? Is there really just ONE guy (or gal) working combat? If one-tenth of one percent of the players were tracking one bug a day for this guy, there'd be almost thirty bugs a day reported. I'm assuming there's more participation and more redundancy in reporting, so ONE guy would spend most of his day sorting through old bug lists. Well, I only say that because the old bugs are well, still bugs instead of being fixed. Now I know why.
Yeah, if there's just one guy and not a team (doubleboggle) then I agree, this guy is massively overworked. I'll throw a couple bucks in for another carton of cigarettes and some premium coffee, get the guy his own cube and leave him be.

Honestly, it's like they want the carbineer profession to be non-existent.

I figure hes just the head of the combat team. Each weapon is suppose to have a designer, I believe.

be fair: carbineer HAS seen some attention. dh17's got fixed (i hear that there are good ones out there now. i'm still too horribly scarred from the state they were in at release to truly believe this, or even think about using one.)

and, umm...er, oh yeah! charge-shot2 is aoe now! it, uh, it doesn't kd like its supposed to, but at least we can make a group of mobs angry!

and, an EASY fix that would make me a tad bit happier would be consistent spelling. they only got THAT one half-right too.

I can't even find a statement about the problems with fixing the carabineer problems.
nowhere, i searched every post for a acceptable statement.

Its still my primary profession, but it gets harder and harder in pvp. so i will change the profession soon if there arent any changes to the carabineer.

Its really demotivating when everyone gets fixes and the carabineer seems to be a non existing profession for all these swg devs.

Its making me angry.....

Big thanks to SOJ for compiling these issues. Here are the designers’ responses to the top 5 issues (option 6th is the Correspondent’s pet issue). We have 32 professions to get through so we apologize for the brevity of the answers.

1) Special Moves – LegShot3, BurstShot2, Crippling Shot, SupressionFire 2 are not working properly and/or not performing as well as their predecessors.

We’ll investigate this and check back with you.

2) Carbine HAM issues – Carbines have too high of a HAM cost and do not compare to pistol or rifle. This also applies to carbines that do not require stocks.

We’ll investigate the HAM costs of carbines.

3) Carbine Defense – Defense modifications for carabineers do not match those of the pistoleer or rifleman. Counterattack does not work well and should be examined for effectiveness.

We’ve made some changes, and we’ll re-examine once they are implemented.

4) Variety – The ineffectiveness of some weapons (Elite carbine and DXR6) leaves little room for variety.

We’ll look into this. But how is it less effective?

5) Carbineer – Consistent spelling of the profession “Carbineer.”

We will do this in a future update. We are also changing this forum title to reflect your desire. (FYI Carabineer is correct, but Carbineer is an acceptable alt that you all seem to prefer)

6) Defense – Carabineer needs better defenses. It loses against Bounty Hunter and Pistoleer when using carbines.

We’ll also re-examine this looking for balance.
