Thread: Carbineers have a great sense of humor
I'm looking for something range to pair with a new character I'm starting on another server. I've decided on Teras Kasi. I had a monk on EQ and that was cool (before the great nerf). I'm looking for something range to include. So I've been reading other forums.
Of course everybody does pistol. Pistol is great cause with unarmed, I could do the dirty fighting line in smuggler (feign death again!). I hear dirty fighting is a great tree. Also, pistols aren't broken (as much as other professions). However, with Teras Kasi, I'm not so worried about the mob closing distance, so I could afford to do something that seems really cool, like carbine, and at melee distance switch to unarmed. I've thought about rifles but I've heard that it really pays to get master rifleman and I"m not sure if I'd want to do all the trees there. Plus if you read the riflemen threads, they've definitely got issues there too. And on most mobs, I can't be bothered to lay prone at a distance, shoot, and wait for the mob to run up to me, then stand up again. Takes too much time, too much button pushing, for routine one-after-another hunting.
II like the sense of humor I read here. Kudos to the thread "five great things about Carbineer" . You guys can laugh at how screwed up SWG has made Carbineer at the present time. I liked it that you guys share stories about how a fight with a mob is a race to kill it before your incap yourself with the high Carbine HAM cost. You can be proud that now it takes a special person to be a Carbineer. I respect Carbineer masters. They remind me of the guys who used to role play Trolls in EQ. They were usually cool as hell. It was the elves in Greater Faydark that were annoying, spamming, yelling, obnoxious, twelve year old jerks.
One question I have, and I don't know if anyone can answer it, is why does it take so long for SWG to fix issues that seem pretty self evident. Like the high HAM costs for Carbineer. You'd think the HAM costs would be in a database table somewhere and they could look up Carbineer and think what the heck, can't go wrong with decreasing it 10% this week. Ten percent is too low of course, but I understand they'd want to be cautious and Verant hates taking back stuff once they've given it out. So start with 10% reduction. Wait a week, see how it plays on test center, make it live, wait another week, see if other classes start yelling about over powered Carbineers. If not, perhaps reduce it another 10%. How difficult can this be? Why have to wait months? Rogues in EQ were broken for how long? Years? Then they were made into arguably, the most powerful class. Perhaps the same will happen to Carbineer. They fixed commandoes and did a pretty good job.
I hope they fix you guys soon. I hear knockdown will actually start to do something soon. Perhaps that will help.
yeah and with rifleman you'll be hitting mind until you get master and get the best attack (strafe2) which hits random pools. With carabine you can target action but you have good random pool attacks that can hit all pools, and health and action get hit more.
it is funny to be in a group with a buch of ch working on a really touch creature...so we are all just hanging back shooting at the thing from a safe distance while a couple tough pets tank...but, then wait...
