does a timer start after you fire your kd or posture change shot or does it start after the target has been kd'ed or forced to kneel? meaning could you keep firing a kd or posture change until it sticks?

Immune timer doesn't start until the shot sticks.

Timer will start when you use the special. afterwards, wait 30 seconds for the special do Use its KD or posture change. While you can fire it during the 30 seconds and until it is up, you will deal the little bit of dmg but not KD/posture change. Missing with the special initiates the timer as well, so using the special causes the 30 second timer. For easily started duels, make a macro thats basically /duel;/chargeshot1;/crippleshot;/crippleshot;/so forth

That is funny because I have been KD'ing everything under the sun on the 2nd shot and beyond for MONTHS......check your facts again....
