Thread: If you could only have one...

So I've been getting tired of the whole TKM/Rifleman thing as it gets a little boring doing the same thing for a long while. I've seen (and killed ) everything I could while I was a TKM/Rifleman. I've decided to do something now that isn't just for pure power, but something that's just for fun this time. I've always been interested in carbines and creature handling (I was actually half way to CH Master before I dropped it for TKM) so I've decided to go with the Master Creature Handler, Master Bio Engineer combination, as well as one full tree of Carbineer. I decided to do carbines long before the specials were fixed and carbines actually became good so this is just icing on the cake for me.


Anyway, as the topic states, if you could have only one full tree of carbineer, what would it be? Right now carbines are actually pretty powerful, fast, and accurate for me with only carbines 4 in marksman. With my laser carbine I can do anywhere from 500 to 1300 damage per shot with a speed of about 2.0 or so. Basically I'm looking for which skill tree will give me the best and most useful abilities as well as skill mods for the skill points invested.


Right now I'm debating between Master Carbine Assault Tactics (which would give me a nice speed boost as well as scatter shot) and Master Carbine Special Abilities (which would give me nice specials including FAA2 and ChargeShot2) but I'm really open to suggestions on what would be best for the 52 skill points invested.

Damn, it double posted.


I even checked to make sure it didn't go through before I tried to post again, refreshed a few times and nothing was there. Guess it was just lagged like the rest of the forums today. Wish I could just edit this out, stupid forums.

What is the chance of getting some kind of dabblers guide to Carbines stickied? Seems we are getting alot of people asking for advice on the best way to spend points. Which tree offers the best bonuses in which categories.

Its nice to spread the "good news" of Carbineer, but taking 30 min to find old posts is a pain in my arse.

Never really thought about an FAQ for Carbineers, thought never really crossed my mind. But it sounds like a good idea. I was thinking of more a guide to dabbling but we could do an entire FAQ.


What points would be want?


  • Fastest way to grind

  • Which trees to advance first

  • Dabblers Guide

  • Weapons and DPS guide

  • HAM costs and buffs/foods/spices

do 0-4-0-0, you get Cripple shot, and it Pwns. either that or do 0-3-0-2 and then you can do well, Cripple+Charge shot 1. The fastest way to grind is to get 0-0-1-2, then Kill quenkers by using KD+burst shot while Buffed. you get about 3-4k per quenker on dantooine, and its easy.

CrippleShot, as has been said 1 gazillion times, is NOT the highest DPS shot until you hit the 1.0 Speed Cap. FAS2 is higher and BurstShot1 is identical.

Although Burstshot 1 is less ham intensive than FAS2
