Thread: New Novice Carbineer has PvP template question

ATM, I am TKM, Carbineer 1002. I have been trying to think of a template to create to be decent in PvP'er.
I'd like to stay TKM if possible because I really like so I was thinking if I'm TKM and Master Carbs, I would have 66 points to put somewhere.
Thats where my problem is, I've asked around and people say well, if your going to keep TKM you need to use pistols and fencer, or this and that. I'd like to play the professions I like and not do the flavor of the month thing. I'm not trying to own PvPer, I just want to be decent at it.
So what would you all suggest to compliment TKM, Mstr Carbs, ?

Well that is a very good combo IMO. It is not FotM but a very nice mix of Melee and Ranged.
Novice Medic
1000 Scout
1000 Scout
4000 Fencer
That would be my suggestion....there really isn't anything that is a must have for your 66 points.....

many people take pistoleer for the great defenses, others take Rifleman for the high power and melee/ranged defense. Id say play whatever feels good to you. if you enjoy carbinear go with that and then try to compliment with other defenses such as fencer and such (since caribeener gives squat)

Okay, look at this.........#1 how efective is dodge?, is it better the dafense vs.?
TKM
Master Carbines
Fencer 0030
Pistoleer 4000
Using that template I would have Dodge +140.
Can anyone tell me what defenses are the best and then maybe I could work towards that goal.
To be honest, I'm going to keep TKM, and gain Master Carbs, I am going to put the other 66 points in stacking defences in some way.
So which ones are good?

Well Dodge will only work with a 1H Weapon or Pistol.....so don't see how that will help you....
If you don't want Medic or Scout you could go 4440 Fencer, which is the best IMO.

You know I've spoke with quite a few people about this subject and your the only one that ever informed me about dodge only working with one-handed weapons. Thank you.
I would have been royaly angry if I worked up to that Template only to find out it wouldn't work.

Swordsman 0444
Since we don't have many defenses, this would stack the "counterattack" to +190 and give a few additional bonuses.
Also, would give me some head and mind hits to use if need be during combat.

Well all defenses are supposed to cap at +125 so adding +20 from Swordsman is a huge skill point waste.
Trust me, if you want the best defenses, go Fencer ![]()
Maybe Melee Maxx will come back to discuss TKM/Swordsman.....

CA works, but even with 105 at Master Carbineer, it only works a few times. If you have +190, it caps at +125 so anything over that is worthless, more or less,
Picking up where the others left off:
TKM - Master Carbineer - 0 4 4 0 Fencer - First Aid 1 (This will give you great state defenses, and your Melee/Ranged defenses won't be that bad either)

Thanks all, you've all been SUPER helpful, I think I'll go the route that Feyrbrand suggested.
I'll give it a go and we'll see what happens.
