Ok, i was perusing my old copy of star wars guide oto weapons and technology and i stumbled upon something: a lightsaber must be calibrated to block specific types of damage. I do not think jedi are cheap or anything, but this sounds like a good idea to me.
A) slugthrowers are unblockable. A lightsaber cannot block a slug, some would argue that the sheer energy of the saber would vaporize the bullets, but since they are invisible when fired, only the most force attuned jedi would be able to block a slug. I propose that nym's slug carbine bypass saber block. This is not purposterous since it is nowhere near the most powerful weapon available to carbineers, and this would give some incentive to go questing for this rare weapon or drop the 400k for it. Its max damage is nearly a fourth of a powered up krayt laser, so it needs some boost to make it effective, and with all the jedi whining going on, i figure a true to the universe mod would be a great additoion (btw the only other weapon unblockable by an untuned saber is a ss'rruvi paddle beamer, which is impossible for any humanoid to use unless modified)
B) Off topic here im sorry. I believe that a jedi should not be able to block any type of damage. They should have to tune their crystal to each type of damage and swithc between sabers, which takes time. A red crystal could block energy, blue stun, green acid, etc. I believe this would keep the jedi at a very formidable level one on one, but weaker against varied player groups (as stated in episode one by qui-gonn jin, we can protect you your highness, but we cannot fight a war for you. Jedi have always been unstoppable one on one, so no complaints there, but large groups are what took them out and left luke the first in years, i believe that two or more players with different damage types should not be able to all be blocked at once. Just a thought.

That is a good idea. Like i said i don't want thmem to lose pwer by too much, just thinking of ways to bypas saber block. Perhaps 2 damage types per saber, if you had energy and acid protection you would be ok. Oh and flame should definately be unblockable (unless it already is)

well i think its a good idea that it shouldnt block everything, but the problem with it only blocking one type of damage would make the jedi very vulnerable to attack (im a BH so there is no love lost between me and jedi mind you), in fact far too vulnerable. maybe just a reduced percentage of blocking would be appropriate, but no block at all.....no.

Hmm. How about something more along the lines of armor resistance types? One or two high-end resistances, some medium/low ones and possibly a vulnerability or two. Make Jedi even pickier about what crystals they choose and how they tune them. I agree, they shouldn't be nerfed that much. Only blocking 1 or two damage types? They'd be killed way too quickly. Especially as they can no longer wear full composite and still use their skills. Being a former armorsmith I can tell you it's worth it to search out and work hard to get the perfect attuned crystal. And since a Jedi can only make it for themselves..........No Uber Jedi Guild!

this is a great idea.....i hate having to deal with saber block its defently over powered IE.... i saw a jedi mark in the water afk so i got on my pet swam out to her and started attack 4 of 5 shots were block... i mean come on this jedi is in the water her sabers not even out and shes afk also i was using a LLC which is a weopon that should bypass saber block as well

Heh heh... plus your mark was in the WATER. Could this be why bounty hunters get access to the LLC? Any mark who swims off in hopes of escaping should be hit automatically by an LLC, saber block or no saber block. Bzzzt!
