Thread: SOJ what about the carbine update...

Well as you said in a previous post there will be some sort of updates for carbineers coming up, i was wondering if you could give us some info on what that update will include, or is that Q-3PO "classified"?

Well, it's really tough to keep a secret, but I think I have to. I think it's about time a couple of these got changed. I'll most likely be able to share when everything is completed which will most likely be sometime this month. I'm assuming that everything is going to be added in the upcoming patch.

Thanks for the info that you have given SOJ. Just nice to hear that something is going to be changed/fixed. I was about to go ballistic on some of the threads under Dev Tracker where everyone is crying about "please fix CH, we are so broken,""please fix commando, I cannot fight right now," and "my BH needs a lot of work on it...I should be able to kill anything in this game in one shot, but yesterday, a commando actually beat me once." Now, I am kind of joking about that, but I basically do not want to hear from any of those professions until every other profession has had something fixed. These 3 profs have had so much attention given to them that there has not been time to touch any of the other ones. So, let's work on fixing Chefs, BEs, DEs, Carbs, etc first. Then we can go back and do some more balancing.


Here's to hoping that we get some good fixes coming to us. Thanks again SOJ.

I sure hope something comes quick, I finaly got master and I already am preparing to switch to a diffrent class because carbineer just isn't holding up its end of the bargin, especially in PvP, and I need to be on par with the other classes so I can fight at the same level. I don't like getting owned over and over its no fun

I am losing faith as well that we will ever be fixed. I am just not sure the devs understand. Take for example, the Devs added a cone effect to Fan Shot for the pistoleers. It doesn't work right (just like all our cones) and the pistoleers want the skill reverted.


The problems with carbiners are so large now I am not sure they can easily be balanced. Yes they can lower HAM costs and that is a start. However, the carbines themselves are a mess. Certain pistols now out damage carbines and for lower speed (and I am not even talking about krayt pistols). This can only be fixed at the crafting level as this is a crafting issue. Then there are our specials.They are adding cones to legshot3 when cones dont even work. I still after all this time cant figure out exactly what actionshot2 does. It does something different every encounter. I now believe that on a basic level, all cone specials dont work. And then, on top of all that, the 30 second timer effects this class more than any other.


I firmly believe that one thing and one thing alone currently saves carbineers...the fact laser carbines are AR2. This is literally the only thing the class has going for it: the ability to do damage to armored targets. Alas, its a single gun with a HUGE damage spread and energy on top of that. If the laser carbine were switched to AP1 that class would instantly become unplayable. What is scary, is I am sure it pure dumb blind luck we have the AP2 laser carbine in the first place.
