this is a petition i started on starsider and its got some aclaim...this idea is for all devices that hold weopons such as scabbards and holsters, and including slings to throw your rifle onto you character's back...

there were holsters in-game and teh link below is to the original thread and it includes a 360 degree view of a bothan with a holster on his side...

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Starsider&message.id=159031&page=1

this petition is not for the developers to stop fixing the game but to add some new content. holsters were in every star wars movie, and its a pity we cant have something that makes star wars what it is...

i know im tired of running into a city and seeing people with guns in their hands, swords poking people, and it doesnt look at all realistic...

i really do think this could be implented within publish 8 or 9 if the devs wanted to work this out...

i know this is a long shot, but i think i had to try it

so sign here or in the original thread to support the cause!

p.s. please no flaming, you are intitled to your opinion, so if you disagree give some good valid reasons and not just say..."No holsters! We NeEd to Fix da' GaME!!11!!"

Holsters are an awesome idea and I've seen them discussed more in the pistoleer forum. But in my opinion, holsters should be for pistoleers only. I think carbines should not get a holster, but just be able to clip onto your waist. I think a Carbine would look awkward in a case at your side. By the way, here's my opinions for all weapons:

Carbines can hang from the waist.

Pistols can get a holster (maybe one that can be placed on the waist or the thigh)

Rifles can be slung on backs

Swords can have sheaths (with a choice of going on the waist or the back, unless it is something like a knife, which would be rediculous on the back)

Other melee weapons can go onto the back (polearms, axes, etc.)

Virboknucklers could go on the waist

I also think it would be cool if new ways to hold your guns at rest were added. For example, carbineers and riflemen hold their guns diagonally in front of them, with the barrel pointing up. It would be kinda cool if you could make the gun point down, hold the but in your palm with the barrel on your shoulder, etc. This could also be used for melee weapons.

YAY!!!!! i love holsters!!! Carbines should get a strap to swing around the neck that hand down like M16s =D

swords are wither fencer = waiste, swordsman = back.

Everyone running around town with a weapon is lame, like a friend said, so i mostly unequip my carbine untill im on the prowl.

Actually, carbines and rifles look cool when you hold them at rest, in my opinion. Especially if you have the right clothes, you can make yourself look more dangerous than you really are

I actually don't think they'd be that difficult to implement--they're just like any other item, and the "holdsered weapon" would just be a few new animations/weapon positions.

is the hotkey I have my carbine placed on. Yes, I think it rediculous too that people run about town armed. Perhapse in the later publishes, stormtroopers will start harrassing people with weapons in their hands. They obviously mean trouble.

wouldnt it be more of crackdown if stormtroopers shot any non imperial with weapon equiped IN TOWN? .... ..... .. .... .. .... .... (pressing period and spacebar randomly cus bored) .... .... .... ... ..... . ...... ... er... . .... .... (with an ocassinonal word) ... ..... ugh...... .... .. ..... . . ........ ... .. .. . . wha!?!?

If its illegal to own weapons like the tutorial says, and people run around with weapons flashing, no one does anything... what the heck? Stormtroopers are like coppers, let them enforce the law!

yes....carbines should definitely be able to have a strap around the neck, hung at the ready....pistols with holsters and rifles on the back....works quite well methinks

Even though I have seen this beaten to death since Beta3 I am dropping my vote here too.

It is a good idea, I even like the one about ST's attacking folks with weapons drawn. They might give you a verbal warning..."Put that weapon away citizen!" then have a short timer before they open fire.

Maybe if we keep talking about what we as players would like in the game we will see this in publish 385 or so

I came to this game from DOAC, a far inferior game graphicly, but at least you could sheath your sword

I definately agree that there should be a holster option, and perhaps even a hotkey to holster/arm your weapon. However, I would like to say that should they decide to impliment this, personally I believe carbines should be holstered on the hip, or at least provide an option to store it there, because if you watch the movies that is where all the stormtroopers keep their E-11s.
