Thread: Ok, so where is our new carbine?

Since launch we have had one truly new carbine, the Slugthrower. However, this is a quest item, so each base Slugthrower is identical. We cannot experiment them, etc.
In the last Publish both a new rifle and pistol were introduced. Both can be made 'uber' through experimentation, good resources etc. I have seen some REALLY nice Genosian Pistols and DXR6B rifles.
Now ANOTHER new rifle is on TC, the Beserker. Its not been confirmed, but its rumored to do blast damage. If this is true, this leaves carbines without TWO damage types that many high level mobs are vulnerable to/have low resists (although you do have to have novice commando to wield the launcher pistol). Carbineers are left with three damage types: Energy, Heat, and Acid.
Most high level mobs have high resists to heat and energy, and many to acid.
Who the heck is in charge of creating their new weapons? Even as a master carbineer, the only thing I can be useful as PVP-wise is applying KD and state changes, I do hardly any damage because good comp armor has high resists to all three of our damage types.
To clarify, I'm not asking for a rifleman or pistoleer nerf, so dont get your undies in a bundle. But what about love for the carbineers. Are we going to continue to be the red-headed step child of the ranged professions?

Personaly id like to see a nice Electric gun with med armor pierce. And a nice avrage stun weapon with ap1. About like the elite but maby tone down the damage bout 10% to balance it...the elite sucks compaired to other ranged high end weapons so 10% is not much.
And id like to see Carbineers get the C22 Nad certification...croud controle and support seems right up our ally for a higher end nad than the C12's And that's Blast damage : )

add medium AP to the EE3 carbine and give us a new carbine with stun or blast damage

Stormtroopers used their E11 to stun Princess Leia in the first 15 minutes of "A New Hope". So... what the f?

a blast damage rifle ?
great now swordsman will be completely uselss in wars and when fighting elders etc.

I must agree, we need something new too. We aren't asking for any uber gun here just something new and with a different damage type. My choice would be a stun carbine with AP1 doing maybe 100-200ish damage. That would be a nice gunto appease the crowd of salavating carbineers!

Honestly, the only thing I'm hoping for is making the Elite Carbine AP2. I mean, the E11 Rifle is AP2, and the E11 Carbine is only AP1... **edit**? Make the Elite Medium AP and I'll be more then happy.

I couldn't agree more. I think we deserve an "uber" carbine, our specials have been broken since release and our only useful attack was nerfed to almost completeuselessness. Not only that, but as many people have pointed out, we only have 3 damage types availableto us, of which are all blockable by good composite armor which half the population is running around with. And to add on top of that, pistoleers and rifflemen have been getting "uber" new weapons, and its about time that weget something worth while. What good is AoE attacks if we can't even penetrate armor and add in arespectable amount of damage?
Suggest: Change Nym's Carbine to Heavy AP Kinetic damage. After all, it is a "slug thrower", not a "P-shooter". Also the damage needs to be somewhere around 150-250, because everyone is running around with 80% kinetic composite. To balance out the power of the carbine the difficulty of the quest should be increased.
We need an "uber" carbine that can be experimented with. A stun carbine with 100-200 damage would be acceptable, as would a more damaging blast carbine (150-300). Do not give us another useless energy or acid carbine. If we want to go PvE, Laser and DXR-6 carbines are just fine, but for PvP we are completely outgunned. Gve us something that will make others think twice about fighting a Master Carbineer.

I agree as well, Nym's carbine is more of a "look-see" gun.
I don't want a stun carbine, simply because the devs screwed PvP by adding stun weapons. Stun settings are designed to be on nearly every weapon...like people have said stormtroopers used an E-11/Elite Carbine on Leia that had a "stun" setting.
So in my opinion, the Devs screwed up horribly there...whoever they had designing weapons failed miserably.
But for sheer balance factors, now I do want a stun carbine...so we're not so badly outgunned anymore. But armor doesn't stop state-effects.

Well if it isnt obvious, i agree as well. We need a new flashy carbine that uses stun, blast, or kinetic. We could use a powerful blast with range damage to replace the childs toy of a carbine, the EE3. Stun would be nice as well, something fast. The other carbineers are right, nyms should be kinetic and experimental. All the carbineers need is some new powerups and weapons to bring us up to the sniper and pistoleer level. We need our carbines Strong!!!

How about a Grenade Lancher, slow but with better range and accuracy than throw grenades. Star Wars Dark Forces had one.
