ok, I'm almost master carbineer! /cheer
heres the big question - do I drop my bh carbine tree? I was wondering - to be more effective in pvp, should I keep it, or go with some CM?
When I think about it, if i'm going up against someone with a psg, synth steaks, 80% composite, and some nice buffs, it won't really matter how much damage I do with a carbine, because it will be insignificant anyway. Sure, I will be firing off 1 second cripple shots, but will that even matter? As far as I can tell, my best bet would just be to pick up some CM poisons, and hope that whoever I fight doesnt have doc 4xxx.

Only if you have +25 in Speed SEAs and Carbines with 2.7 speed or less.. or the equivalent in attachements and weapon speeds to speedcap.
Accuracy tapes can't hurt either.
It's not the easiest to afford, but I really only recommend dropping the BH dabble in such instances.. Maser Carbineer alone is simply too slow to be nearly as effective as it should be.
CM/Carbineer or Carbineer/Doc or even Carbineer/Defense stacking are all viable alternates. It really depends on what you want to use your Carbines for. Even landing a KD and states on someone without some form of speed enhancement through tissues, etc is rather difficult.
I know of two Carbineer/Doctors on Starsider, and both really only ever use Doctor in PvP. They use their carbines solely for middle to low end content.. and are satisfied with throwing heals (or poisons) when it comes to the more challenging stuff.
Don't also completely underestimate the damage we do, however. A bit of investment into a nice Elite or DXR6 will go a long way if you're able to speedcap. Add poisons in the mix and it's a deadly combination. While I myself have never succumbed to a Carbineer (namely because I know what they can and can't do, heh), I have taken out several with my share of Lasers. BH/Carbineer is good for that. Expect to do less damage if you drop the BH line, or simply be less effective to apply states. Generally though, I think the effectiveness / extra SP trade-off is worthwhile.

What AderialSpy said. You need to be maxed out in all Carbine SEA's just to make up alittle of what you will loose from the BH line. Im also MBH, and I went overt the other nite just for the hell of it. My old temp was 4004 CM/4030 Doc/MC. I got pwned by the first CM that I came across.
I beat him, however my mind poolwent from 3200 to 0 and a hella minddisease running. Needless to say I was an easy kill for the other nearby overt heh. Ill stick to noob j3d1. We dont need them growing up big now do we? hehe

From experience, my BH skills have helped me keep Carbineer a cheaper profession. However, when I have collected the skill attachments and weapons I need to max out on speed without BH carbine speed. I may just drop BH Carbines.
The BH Carbines accuracy is untouched by even SEA maxed Master Carbineers but the small advantage of accuracy is quickly lost due to the fact that BH consumes a lot of skill points and offers no defenses in return. Defenses are the key to fighting. Your base defenses control how you must conduct yourself offensively. Trust me. From having a low defense template, the ability of your opponents to hit you extremely often is not worth any offensive power gained from having BH Carbines.
BH carbine specials are redundant to Carbineer specials and do not offer any real advantage. The dizzy on Confusion shot is stronger but the KD of ChargeShot is stronger than FireKD. A well time wild shot combined with fullautosingle can reach the same effect as Confusion shot. The other BH special, Underhand shot, is practicaly useless. If you can afford to cap out on speed using SEA's and expensive guns, you will be using your wealth to overcome our professions lack of speed. It takes a lot of time and effort to acquire the things you need to make Master Carbineer alone to be successful. If you can't afford to do this, stick with BH Carbines.
