umm i just mastered carbines, but im noticing that my states don't mean much and i cant damage anyone through their armor. Is the only way to actually kill someone with a DOT carbine? ive always loved it but i went mswords
so i could actually solo stuff. now that im carbines i pretty much feel totally useless.. i'm hoping some of you will be able to keep my hopes up or something because i fail to see the point of carbines in-game ATM.
I know its the thinking mans profession and all but there is no thinking about it when i am getting headshot3'd
and i can only hit them for like 15 damage with crippling shot. anything i am missing? the only route left for me is a DOT carb, any info on where to get one of those or what drops them would be nice.

are you using a laser carbine? the DXR is a better choice since PSGs are vuln to acid so only their armor and mitigation will affect the damage output. when i PvP with my carbineer i dont look to be a damage dealer. i just try and land my states and damage anyone who looses a decent amout of HAM while doing so

If your talking PvP, and Laser Carb, thats your problem.
Do not forget about ranged mitigation. The larger the difference between the min and max damage, the less damage you do.
Look for a nice DXR6 or Elite Carb with a small inbetween min/max.
For PvE, 95% of the time, I use my DXR6, most things out there usually have a high resist to energy, and are commonly vuln to acid.
Also look out for those weaponsmiths that make-up for poor resources with stocks and other additives giving insanly high HAM costs.
Also, Carbineer is more along the lines of Pikeman. Its more about stat changes then damage.

No such crafted Laser Carbine has ever been made......150/620 maybe but not 250/620 I can promise you that....unless it is an exploited Laser....

Well it seems like i might have been wrong about carbines, not only did i get a 700 max laser (pup'd) i looted a 177 mind poison ee3 not 10 minutes later.not alot of damage but its good enough when they are stuck on the floor
, if anyone knows a spawn where i can loot more dot ranged weapons let me know. i heard something about a weapons facility but i have no clue where it is.
i got alot of dot weapons from PVE bases but there is none left for me to go kill stuff.
thanks and seeya laters.

That's the attitude
Yeah.. there's a huge difference between using a standard-sliced Laser and a 700 max. It's phenomenal.
As far as DoT Carbines go, there are 3 main things you can hunt:
- Corvette NPCs(still need to get a group/ticket though)
- Sith Thugs and Aurillian Sith NPCs (Phase 4 is the best for this)
- Faction Base NPCs (similar to Corvette NPCs)
Right now, the easiest would be to farm the Faction Base NPCs from both PvE and PvP bases. When the Phase 4 from the Aurillian Village shifts in, however, that's a great spot to hunt for DoT Carbines, since there are hundreds of Sith Thugs running about.
