What are people's opinion and experience with this part of the game. At QL10 creature pet vs. Droids who wins? Which is easier to maintain? Which one will last longer tanking?
Also QL10 pet/Droid vs. putting points in CH. Is it worth it to invest points in CH to gain better pets. Does it make soloing and exploring easier when unbuffed. Right now I am considering going Carbineer but having a hard time decided whether to get the carbine speed and accuracy in BH or to go MCH.
Thanks for any help and wisdom.

Been a long time since I used any low level pets, but MCH is a great combo with Carbineer for PvE.....of course it doesn't help one bit in PvP
I fooled around with some droids but quite frankly don't like how slow they are.....all my pets are cats that I use regular and they keep up with my bike pretty darn good.
One thing that makes CH/BE pets so awesome is getting their regen stats buffed. This eliminates the need to heal the pets against such high-end stuff like Krayts......I can take my pets unbuffed and without healing them tank a GDK solo.....so they are quite powerful.
Really the choice boils down to personal preference and the money you have....BE pets are key to a CH and not taking BH means you really need to buy/loot SEA's to get the Speed up.

I know that I am posting this question in a biased forum, but you guys are really nice and just wanted to discuss this from your experienced perspective. If this is talked about in a FAQ stickied at the top, then yell at me. I have looked but did not see a comparsion.

I'm both DE and CH, so I'm not really biased, as I like both professions
Unfortunatley, the Droid Engineer combat droids don't really stand up to creature pets. Without Novice Creature Handler, you can pick up 1 creature pet, or one combat droid, as long as they are under CL10 (all combat droids are), but you can't have both. If you get Novice Creature Handler, you can use a level 12 creature pet, and a combat droid.
Unfortunatley, as for the non-CH level 10 pets, there are Bio-Engineer pets that maintain a sub-CL10 rating, but have amazing stats (an example can be in Straker's mentioned thread). And obviously if you pick up CH, you'll only be open to getting bigger and badder pets.
They are both about the same to maintain, but I suppose creature pets would have a slight advantage, because they don't need batteries like droids do. And the right pet will last a lot longer tanking than a droid.
As far as your Master Creature Handler questions, well, those would be better asked in the Creature Handler forums, as even tho I am CH and happy to help you out... I'm actually not all that high (only 2213) and don't know everything related to the profession.
I would say you'd do better as a Master Creature Handler w/o buffs and stuff than I would, because you appear in the direction to actually master a combat profession, yes? See, I'm on the road to mastering Droid Engineer, and Creature Handler, and with what little I have left over, I can get 1 tree in an elite combat profession, which I have chosen "Trickshot" in the Pistoleer tree.
I guess it depends on what you're out hunting also. I mean, for me, I can't do anything unbuffed. I dunno that Master Creature Handler will make that big of a difference that you can head out unbuffed and take care of stuff. So I wouldn't recommend it if you wanna be lone ranger just kicking @$$ and taking names. But it's afun profession. You may want a 2nd opinion tho on the CH forums, to get a better idea.

I've been a DE for a long time, and it still baffles me everytime I sell a combat droid. BE pet are SO much better than droids. They have more HAM, they do more damage, they can be buffed and eat chef food.
The only possible profession that would benefit more from a Probot than a BE pet would be TKA. A probot would give them an Energy attack when all TKA's have is Kinetic. Although most creatures that have high resistance to Kinetic also have high reisits to energy, so not really sure how much this would help.

I prefer my probotfor ranged support, if he gets argo'd he has an auto repair module to help him take damage, pets dont have an auto repair anything, only stims

Pets don't die either.
I was a Master CH / Master DE for a very long time. I had to drop CH awile back so I could take up Merchant and SW. Pets are better. Droids sell because many want that Star Wars feeling.

That's a surprising comment coming from a DE. I assume you mean combat droids by your comment?
I don't need to mention that doctors, scouts and crafters all use droids for convenience, and everyone else uses storage droids. Once they nerf the uber BE'd CL10 pets, probots will be the choice combat pet for non CH's. I wish our services could be more desirable for combat professions, but it could be a whole lot worse.

Rasal,
I disagree. Even after the BE bug fix, the pets will have at least as much HAM as droids, plus they'll be able to use buffs/chef food, plus they'll still have special attacks like KD, Dizzy, Posion etc. Even after the 10k HAM BE pets get nerfed, they'll still tear apart our droids.
I forgot who mentioned it, but someone talked about the auto-heal ability: In order to make this work so that it can keep up with the damage, you have to put in more than one Auto Heal. This takes away from the combat ability. If I load an ADV. Probot with my best combat modules (103's for you DE's out there) it only does 177-187 damage. That's like an FWG5 without the specials. Take moduels out for auto-heal and that number goes down a lot. You have a tank that can't tank or an attacker that can't do damage.
Believe me I WISH things were different. Before the game ever came out, I said I was going to be a Wookiee Droid Engineer so I could build pets for the RL friends that were going to be playing with me. Imagine my disappointment.
