Thread: Master Carbineer/Master Doctor...Thoughts?

Well, seeing as how the HAM drain on our profession is hideous, and to survive even a small skirmish we have to use food and stims X10, would being able to buff yourself along with carbineer (if fixed, possibly the most powerfull one-tree class in the game) be a good combination? To Master Carbineer, and Master Doctor, at bare minimum, without the ranged support tree, you can only get exploration 1...which means that youll go slow as hell up hills...and if you get the ranged support tree, the only kind of terrain neg you could get would be through combat medic. Thoughts?

Being able to give yourself Doctor buffs cures a Carbineer of the broken HAM costs turning the profession into a worthwhile PvE and PvP skillset. How far up the trees you go and what you do with leftover skill points is your choice.

I'm going this route (still) and just have 3 boxes in carbineer left!


It does seem very good for anyone who does this route, because you can spam all you want without regard to HAM costs, not to mention you can take some damage before you worry. I have Exp I and probably will get Survival I (I think I have enough SP), just for forage for any future pet...though with upcoming nerf I dunno how useful that will be.

Carb/Doc works. The other choices that work ar CH, CM, BH. I may have missed one, but I can't think of any more atm. Good luck going outside of these four choices though. You may survive, but you will not thrive without one of these classes.

the answer to this is simple: dont skill up to master doctor.


0-2-4-0 will allow you to buff yourself with enhancement C's and D's if you can get the latter experimented down for you by a master doc. you can also go the 0-2-4-4 route (which im currently skilling up to) so that you can make your own enhancement packs and stims as well as make some extra money making and sellinggreat stim B's.


I wont be able to revive, cure poison or cure disease but thats ok. you have to focus on one or the other based on your personal playstyle and so far i am happy and will be able to keep exploration IV so i can run up hills and hunting III so i can harvest my own meats, hides and bone.

charged shot is much more effective for getting 1 or more mobs off of you long enough to escape. warning shot is unreliable and doesnt work everytime wheras chargedshot is almost guarenteed.


tying up 12 skill points for warning shot when you can have charged shot instead is not wise.

Master Carbineer / Master Doctor is a great combo and that's currently what i have. I only had room for explor 1 and something is better than nothing. When vehicles arrive hopefully I can drop Scouting and get something else. There are some great suggestions about how to build ur Carbineer/ Doc but IMO the best one would be to get Doc 4-4-4-0. That way you can use all the med packs,enhance packs,cure poison, cure disease, and rezbut you need someone else to make them for you. You definately want to Master Carbine because that helps with the speed and accuracy that is much needed.

It is impossible to have any scout if you, as claimed, are a Master Carbineer/Master Doctor.

master doc/master carbineer is insane. IMO, Doctor is the best profession to use in conjunction with Carbineer, and if you are Master Doctor, you will also be able to do a very good amount of business selling low med use supplies to the medicinally challenged, as well as selling the top end (ie, expensive) stuff to the docs who don't bother with crafting.


sooo...Master Doctor not only enables you to spam specials to your heart's content--thus making you a more effective Carbineer, it also allows you to wear a full suit of ADV Composite (with performance slices rather than enc slices, if you can get a full suit of it put together that way), AND, it offers you a chance to have a very nice amount of income.


personally, i'm going the Combat Medic/Carbineer route, but i know for certain that Carbine to Carbine, a Doc would smoke me.

If your going master carb you'll get suppression 2 with the counterinsurge line, so again the ranged support line isn't needed. Spend those 14(?) pts somewhere else.
