Thread: Does Counterattack work against creatures?
I've been a master Carbineer for about 2 weeks now, and find the professions great (it's been 3 grueling months to finally achieve it). Ican now easily soloenemies one on one, with HAMs of7K+ without buffs, kraytcarbines, or power-ups(though I do havenovice medic anduse armor). Lots of running helps too of course. ![]()
Anyhow, I've noticed how counterattack doesn't seem to work at all against creatures. Against humaniod NPCs, it seems to work to some degree - my character sometimes would dodge/shoot against some of the attacks. Of course I still take hits it seems, and just return some back. Overall, counterattackdoesn't seem that great, even with theboast from +20 to over a hundred from the last major patch.
Maybe counterattack isn't suppose to work against creatures, I don't know. Does it work for you against creatures? I would sometimes stand against my creature opponent, mentally willing my character to do some sort of 'counterattack' or at least a dodge animation... to no avail of course. Since there isn't a lot ofus carbineers around, I don't havemanypeers to ask, soany info would be great. Thanks.
Well, your reply doesn't clarify anything, but since your the only one who offered a reply, thanks.
Check your combat log. It will say your opponent (pc or npc) used an attack on you, 'but you shrug it off and counterattack.'
There is no counterattack animation. Counterattack is a passive defense that is checked if your opponents hit reaches you through your ranged or melee defense. The higher the opponent's accuracy, the less chance you have of being missed, and less chance of your passive defense kicking in.
You will also see the words 'counterattack' float over your character if you perform a counterattack.

It just blocks the shot. Some people say that there's a small chance you'll perform the default attack, but I've never seen it do that.

Ok, thanks for the extended info, Ypiana. I remember removing my combat log a while back, and forgetting that it was even there. I'll lookinto it again.
