My thoughts were to provide a STICKY post, "Important Carbineer Links", instead of one massive FAQ post.
I have also identified a number of recent posts and done a "personal float" to keep track of them as good info to have STICKY in some form. But please post your thoughts and ideas for updating the FAQ here too. Just as Nova did, I want a Community driven FAQ, not just stuff I come up with because I don't have all the answers.

I particularly like the way the Fencer forums work*. The main FAQ is actually a "knowledge base" of links, as you suggested, that points to other threads that are quite important.
Check it out here.
I'm thinking that discussions of popular templates and tactics can simply be linked to, as they are not absolute and do vary from publish to publish (a template thatis godly at one point may soon be obsolete.)
However, basic information about DPS calculations, the types of weapons, mitigation information, you know.. the current FAQ, can be kept (updated) in the traditional manner. That way, you have the standard info that everyone should know as well as Carbineer Community knowledge.
* OK, actually I hate the Fencer forums, but their FAQ is pretty cool, heh.

Just keep in mind if you're going to do links, make sure the threads have all of the info on the front page. Shouldn't have to dig through a thread to find the important info.

It is easy enough to direct link to a buried post, but I hope to have "clean" threads linked....
And I am up for all suggestions, even from another forum......

well, I can see your definetly much more organized about this than I could possibly fathom, yet alone improve upon so I leave you with this. Dont make it so complicated that a 'FAQ for the FAQ' is necessary.
perhaps memorize the URL for the FAQ so you can just type it up whenever referring someoen to it in other threads. save yourself some time, (that or keep it on your clipboard)

I think we have most of the bases covered right now actually. My suggestion for the FAQ is to wait until after the combat rebalance. Since from what i can tell everything in our current document is going to need to be reworked afterwards. No sense in fixing what isn't broken just to have to redo it.
Although AdmiralSpy did have a great post in that carbine tactics thread, that would make a great addition.

I have 8 "other" posts floated right now with bits and pieces to add to the FAQ.
The current one is great, but some people might not read thru the whole thing....not sure I like having links be the whole thing, but some more stuff besides the Special Data could be linked.
Well now that I think about it, the Special Data should probably NOT be linked.....

Why not do both? Make an FAQ compiled of data we all know people have questions about, then make a seperate sticky that is just a catalog of links to some of the better discussions we have.

The Important Links thread is a good idea. Currently there is an overload of information in the FAQ, so splitting in seperate (perhaps locked) threads would be a good solution. A possible index of such a links thread:
- Master Carbineer templates [thread]
- Levelling strategies and trainer locations [thread]
- Specials information [thread - please update to 'updated for publish 10' to avoid confusion]
- Weapon information [thread]
- Solutions for high HAM cost [thread]
- PVP strategies [thread]
