I have read many posts on the forums, especially in the carbineer forums on how to grind FS xp. My path is different than all I have read, so I figured I would enlighten my fellow soldiers of the coolest ranged(possibly any profession) in the game. I cap 900k in about 1.5 hours. Full buff, some brandy, go to Lok. Kill every NPC in site. Sounds easy but on Lok NPCs like to shoot at us(unlike Jantas) and come in big Canyon Corsair sized groups of 7 or so. Plus, Nyms are fun to kill as well. So put your ranged mitigation to work for you and Burst Shot 2 the entire group. Once you learn how to angle them, presto 2000 per hit * 7 NPC equals 14000 damage per shot. Usually takes about 15 shots to kill a whole group and they are 5k a piece or close to it.Plus they all like to shoot at you, which you never really get hurt since your mitigation blocks most of the damage. The only thing that sucks is the 4 planet hop back to dath. but 1.5 hours is by far the fastest I have seen on a ranged profession especially with virtually no risk to you. Plus loot can be good, and I get about 500c on eachNPC. So don't worry about missions cause it takes longer to kill the NPC lair than it is worth. Good place to get crystals and loot kit adhesives as well. Just wanted tohelp my fellow carbineer/jedi wannabees. Though I will miss this profession when all the bounty hunters are killing me ata regular basis.

Interesting way to do it.....of course there are dozens of things and ways to get the XP since there is no longer an exploitable thing out there to hunt.

And unless things have drastically changed, the Mitigation doesn't do anything as the damage range for NPC's and creatures is next to nothing.

BTW, I can easily get 350k-400k in 45 minutes (one round of Brandy/Ahrisa) roaming Dant while taking 2 missions.....and this is while talking in guildchat and/or groupchat I have a number of people getting 700k per hour so they are capping easily under 1.5 hours. But the key is to play the game and have fun, not grind....grinding is a state of mind, an attitude that often results in cancelled accounts.....

agreed on the grind, but I love fighting like 7 things at once and watching them drop like flies, i have tried the dant missions. Just not the same. Give it a try sometime. You will be surprised how much damage you can do. I don't know if I agree with your mitigation theory. I know I cantake a hit from a ranged weapon now than when I was a TKM.Key with keeping them away though is that you can easily hit 7 targetsa shot and you get them at optimum range for max dmg. Everyone has there own way. But this you can do with out having to hunt for a solo group.

Oh, I forgot to mention I use my pets to attack the lair and get 10-15 things to spawn and then shoot them all at once

I've tried to tell people about this soooooo many times... no one listens... lol..

What do is get in a solo-group and then grab 2 mercinary missions about 800m apart.

With full auto you can get 50k carbine xp in about 2 minutes killing both camps.

The coolest thing is you can continue killing the two camps over and over for about 5 cycles non-stop.

So in about 10 minutes... you have about 250k xp...

what what what...

right... 10minutes = 250k xp...

Then people always tell me Im crazy and quenkers are far better...

Then I just laugh...

p.s. see ya on the boards friend... lol

p.p.s. The best way to get FS xp thou... Killing Jedi... rotfl BH xp = 1 to 1 FS xp

One question: if you go out to hunt spontaneously spawned NPC's on Lok, where do you go? most of Lok seem empty and the rest is other peoples missions. Is there any good spot where they spawn?

Actually if you are grouped you get more xp per kill.

The grind thing, I have to say kills this game. I used to hunt for organics on Yavin and other planets when a good spawn happened. Most people just ran missions cause they knew where the lairs would be. Well, that is no fun. I used to have a Master Ranger/Master HS character and all I would do is wander around /areatracking for animals I wanted. Managed to find a full suit of BH armor, and a few areas of planets where I always knew where certain "wild" creature lairs were. Much more creatures per lair and a lot more fun cause I was tracking them.

Areatrack is a little borked, but still works.

On a side note, I still have nightmares about mamiens. /tumble to fetal position, /burstcry.

Corsair camp. Southeast of the I.O. Droideka cave. Pirate cave is noob xp, but you still get about 1k per kill and the respawn rate is high.

I can usually cap 900K Carbines and 900K 2H Swords in a set of buffs, trade in the XP and be back on Dant before the buffs wear. And that is just get 2 missions, do missions, rinse, lather, repeat. Usually warrants about 800K-1M in a buff session. Consider the most i have ever paid for buffs is 15K, iwould say that is a good turn around. Of course i can see Janta missions becoming really tedious very quickly so i would advise take the weekends off and do something fun, like the DWB or hunt some Kryats

This is a GREAT strategy. I use it all the time, inmy ownway. I don't have the luxury of a tank usually, but what I do is use BS2 on a lair directly. If you are smart, and play your cards right, you can get many mobs to run back to the lair to heal it. As long as you keep pounding away on the lair, and you keep doing good damage to it (enough to keep the attention of the mobs and make them want to heal the lair), you can easily tear through the entire pack in no time. If too many mobs abandon the lair to munch on your butt, just switch to a single target attack on the lair to get them off of you and back to healing the lair. Rinse, and repeat.

Another good tip: Examine the lair.

Don't just look for certain mobs on your journey between missions. Look for certain lairs as well.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but there are 2 types of lairs. One type is a mission lair. These are the ones that spawn when someone takes a mission from a terminal, and are that person's mission. For courtesy's sake, do not attack these lairsunless it is your or a your group's mission. You will know if it is a mission lair if it actually says "lair" abaove it, such as "a Bolle Bol lair" or "a Fambaa lair."

The other kind of lair is the static spawn lair. These lairs are more commonly known by specific names, such as Dead Log, Brambles, or Pile of Bones. These are fair game for everyone, as they are not part of anyone's mission. There are a few mobs in the game that only live in static spawn lairs, meaning you cannot get a mission to them.

Now that you know what you are looking for (as well as what not to look for), examine the lairs. They have hit points. The more hits points a lair has, the more mobs will come out of it, usually. Sometimes the number of mobs will cap out at lower hit points. If this is the case, then higher hit points mean that a larger number will spawn per "pop" (i.e. 8 fambaas per spawn rather than 6 per spawn). The highest amount of hit points a lair can have is 64k. These are the best lairs to hunt if you are a high level fighter, and work best for my strategy of using BS2 described above.
