I am a Master BH. I do not have much experience with either Commando or Rifleman.

HOWEVER someone suggested carbines..... what specials or advatages to carbines have?? I would very much like ideas from those who do have experience....... advantages disadvantages techniques and why the work, weapon vs weapon from other skill tree in usage and effect, PvP and PvE potiential and likiness for success... ect.

If you have a few mins, would greatly appriciate your thoughts and ideas on the subject.

From reading a few other threads i feel i need to saythis.... i did not respec BH, i have always had it since i started playing year and a half ago, woprked for him myself. .. just now with respec i have options to make him better i feel with a second profession to compliment him.

Thanks

i know this is going to sound strange at first, but if you REALLY want to be effective with carbines as a Master Bounty Hunter... you want to take pistols. in fact you want you build to look like this:

MBH
Master Pistoleer
Carbines 4400

your COMPLETE set of mods WITHOUT weapons will look something like this:

Bounty Mission Difficulty +3
Burst Run Efficiency +40
Camouflage +15
Camping +5
Carbine Accuracy +65
Carbine Defense +20
Carbine Speed +50
Cover +10
Creature Harvesting +15
Creature Knowledge +5
Droid Precision +130
Droid Speed +90
Droid Tracking Speed +80
General Ranged Accuracy +210
General Ranged Speed +60
Mask Scent +70
Melee Defense +175
Pistol Accuracy +40
Pistol Defense +50
Pistol Speed +45
Ranged Defense +190
Terrain Negotiation +40
Tracking Droid Effectiveness +100
Tracking Droids +12
Trapping +5

the added General Ranged Speed and General Ranged Accuracy from Master Pistoleer, combined with the Speed and Accuracy lines from Carbine (4400) will bring your Carbine Speed and Accuracy above what you can get as a Master Carbineer / Master Bounty Hunter. you will also add Improved Crippling Shot and Improved Leg shot to your specials (two of my favorites) as well as Improved Full Auto Area and Improved Spray Shot for crowd control.

hope this helped a little bit?

I have somthing a little different: MBH/MCarbines/Pistoleer 4004. This gives you all the ins and outs of the bounty hunter, the speed mods from the first pistol line and the Stopping shot from the last pistol line. The Master Carbines I chose was almost entirely for the porpuse of fighting Jedi.

Jedi can throw a 'Saber up to 35m, and thats right were the pistol range ends. But with Carbines you can put yourself a few more meters between you and still do some major damage, plust you can root and snare and posture-down your opponent to your hearts content.

Carbines has a lot of Cone-AOE attacks, but with a few high power attacks from BH (Adv. Crit. for example) can have you doing up to 1k damage a hit with a right weapon.

This also helps in PvE, because there is a creaure AI but that allows Melee Mobs to hit you from up to 65m away if they decide to agro you instead of a level 80 melee tank in your group. Creatures will normall start to attack you if you were the one of the first people to engage in combat with it and you were within 30m of it when combat started. With carbines you can keep away a tad farther when you initiate combat.

This is just my template, its really up to your play style now. The CU has almost entirely removed the "uber-template". (the BH FOTM will hopefully go away, but BH is really good right now)

Thanks Neo. I was actually having the same problem. I wanted to master carbines because of the specials but then realized that pistols had better attacks. Yet I was wondering if I could mix them up. If it works they way you showed, I should be in good shape. Thanks for the insight.

Combining Master Carbineer with Master Bounty Hunter will make you much more flexible.

MBH is an excellent "1 vs 1" profession. Good variety of mods and specials. With Master Carbineer, if the situation comes up, you can engage many targets in a wide area by use of the Full Auto Areas or Suppression Fires.

Crippling Shot is good to go. It lasts much longer and more effective to slow down a target than Rifleman's Improved Knee-Cap Shots.

Charging Shots are redundant with MBH's Improved Underhand Shot. The latter I feel is tactically safer since Chargine Shot has an animation where you run a few steps to the enemy.

The Leg Shots are also fair damaging specials.

Also, carbines reach out much further than pistols. The longest reach of a pistol is about 35m while some carbines reach out to 45m. That's a big difference if you're worried about keeping space betwen you and a Jedi mark.

You could do a compromise. MBH / MCarbineer lacks a Snare special. You could dabble Pistoleer to get one with left over SPs if available. Once you get one, then your "toolbox" will be very well rounded for many tasks.

I just picked up carbineer for my MBH of 2 years. So far, it's doing wonders against jedi. I picked up stopping shot and marksmenship from pistoleer, so i can keep them rooted, and get that extra accuracy. Only real problem i have with carbineer is that, so far, it just feels weird. I've always been pistols, so im used to sticking close to my mark. As for regular pvp, it's a so-so template.

i think some people have mistaken my meaning.

i am NOT suggesting you USE pistols with Bounty Hunter, on the contrary STAY WITH YOUR CARBINES!!

what i was driving at is a purely NUMBERS based template. you get MORE accuracty and MORE speed with Master Pistoleer than you do with Master Carbineer and because the way the CU is set up, ALL of the numbers apply to your carbines when equiped.

believe me i was sad to see that i needed to take up a THIRD profession in order to make Carbines more effective, but the numbers are dead on. i've worked it and re-worked it and Master Pistoleer makes a Bounty Hunter more proficent with aCarbine than Master Carbineer... =(

at any rate, you can check out some of the character builders out there to double check the numbers

the one on the Bloodfin Network is a good one. i use it most often

I love carbs hands down, my pre CU Kryated Laser is still in my tool bar... but after trying almost every temp with carbs in it. I basically stuck with my old temp.

MBH
M Pistols
M Marksman <--worth having IMHO due to the nice general acc/speed
Carbs 0/3/0/0

I actually think most of the specials are redundant with BH and Carb, Pistols have hands down the most options in terms of specials and this build allow me great acc/speed and defense with pistols and carbs.

You can get a little better speed with different builds but i really like this on. Now for those who have alot of modded equipement, especially speed/acc tapes, you can dabble in the last two branches of carbs for a better build IMHO but i dont have the tapes, only +10 carb speed. I will mention that the above build im right at 120 speed 280 acc with carbs and Im using a prenerf ubese shirt with a +10 speed CA on it.

Cheerio, and when are they going to fix suppression fire, this one little broken special really makes this class a little more broken IMHO.

-redundencies... they do exist I suppose, but nice thing about have two kd's is that they seem to be ona different timer. Example. I use BH KD and when I try again after he get's up it doesn't affect him, but using charge shot does often knock down (although charge shot doesn't seem to KD as high a percentage as BH KD, no testing just a casual observation)

-I have MBH / MP / Carbs 0440. Still trying it, but I did well against a Jedi Knight I dueled (but lost to) and took down a melee stacker with a limited area to run in.... so it's at least decent. But not what you're looking at.

-As far as Carbines addition to MBH, I say go for it and suppliment with either M Marksman and Pistol 0004, or pistol 0004 and a second tree in pistols... but totaly up to you.
