I'm looking for a list of the carbine attacks and what they do specifically. I don't see one here yet. Thanks!

Is one of them a root?

You'll either have to look in-game or in a character-builder. The only char builder I've seen is the bloodfin one.
We do not have a root. The only roots are stopping shot from pistoleer and concussion shot from smuggler - which breaks upon attack. We do have crippling shout though, which is a +snare+ attack and slows the enemy.
