I was a BH/MCarb/SL0404...then I decided to try rifles with BH....then I couldnt decide so I went to MCarb/MRifles to see what was the best.....

Ended up MCarb/MRifle/Pistol4403/MasterMarksman

I call it the Soldier Template. I even use the Rifle tag Soldier. I use Carbines for close quarters combat mostly PVP, and the T21 for long range support or PVE. ( I also have 2 cyber arms +5 range and +10 range) Hitting 65m range with an Elite w/ 325 Acc and 79m range with a T21 with 345 Acc.

Defense is on par with the original BH template I had, and as for PVP..it worked great....cant heal well having to reply on Stims, but with a Combat medic nearby, I was hitting hard and fast.

You could skip the whole Pistoleer part and get 3000 Combat medic, but I found the extra Acc/Speed/defense and Stopping shot too much to pass up.

Can you use a rifle with the carbineer specials that say you need an automatic weapon?

I used Full auto area and a T21on agroup of 50 overt Rebels in my city. I don't know if the T21 is an automatic Rifle tho...kinda big, but my Elite has better dmg than the T21...so I would have done better with the Elite. Still managed to hit 8 of them for 600+ dmg each and destroy7 swoops. Rifleman is missing the whole nuke part of their profession (which is why you where likely asking about that) and right now, the Carbineer can put down the same and sometimes more dmg than a rifleman and also have crowd control. A rifleman can "hide" before the battle. Its the general stats you get from rifleman that helps the Carbineer..and is why I was most interested in it. It is more of an Offense stacking.

I've been MC/MR since the first day of respec and so far I'm loving it even though I was a complete n00b for both professions. I do like using my rifle specials with a carbine equiped as well as carbine specials with a rifle. My carbine uses less action so it's my main weapon and I whip out a rifle when I need to do my best nuking. It's also nice to be able to use a rifle at 64m and KD my targets hehe!

Picked up this build before the CU and haven't respected since. Rifleman post-cu have lost all area attacks and coupling their profession with carbineer allows access to at least one AoE (per bug) to which helps out the rifleman profession. In addition, the battle armor is a good all around armor to use for both PvE and PvP where damage type and agros can change quickly. Adding in the carbine line of BH also gives the Rifleman/Carbineer access to yet another area attack to which can be performed with all weapons. With these two area attacks (spray shot and full auto) one can cycle between the two attacks with little to no delay.

As for the T21, yes it is an automatic weapon just like the DLT20/a rifles as both were modeled and are listed in various Star Wars resource guides as light repeating rifles. According to most resources, the T21 can fire as fast as 8 shots a second and as slow as one shot per second. Given that if the T21 was able to fire at it's listed ROF then everybody would take up Rifleman solely based up the raw DPS that could be done.
