Carbineer Archive
Thread: Carabineer: post mortem
Anyone want to take a stab at why the devs are trashing so many professions, its seems like carabineer especially, and making pistoleer seems to be the choice. Mind you, I will never surrender my carbine skills, but if I'm useless in a fight what is the point of a group having me. The devs have gone too far, or just aren't nerfing professions at an even speed, which they should so not to give unfair advantage to one profession over another-even temporarily. Either way, carabineer still needs some changes. HAM and special costs may be all we need, but right now of the fighting classes we are on the low end. It forces one to wonder, are we dead like the title suggests?
Long live the fighter!
Greets ...
Why do Mobs have a Green, Blue, White, Yellow, Red con?
Heck ... those would not be necessary if they left things the way there were.
Basically, no single person should have been able to solo a red/red con.
They will continue to swing the nerf bat till they end up with what they want.
Solo:
White being a tough battle that you may lose
Yellows being a really tough battle you barely win
Reds being really tough that you almost never win
That is the way the game is *designed* on the drawing board ... us players found lots of ways to wreck that ... they are fixing it.
The new players that buy the game? They will never know it was *nerfed* here or there ... they will just accept that fact they can not solo a Red/Red.
The idea of a red is that it's going to kill you ... and your friends ... and your friends friends ... and then hunt you down at the cloning center and kill you again ... and then it will kill you as you try to log out ... heck ... you'll be going to bed and that red/red will still be killing you ... again.
Once all the professions are in line they might make less red/red spawns ... but for now? me and my prenerf Probot and Rock beattle are kicking butt and taking names.
Psst ... you can't solo in this game ... if you want to solo, be a CH ... that's what it's designed for ... if not ... get a group ... and you still need a tank ...
Hero out
So I suppose allowing other combat professions the ability to do thousands of damage per shot is making them soloing reds harder?
From all reports, I'm hearing for Bhs and commandos anywhere from 5k-13k damage in one shot with a special.
That is "bringing them in line" ?
well you guys just have to realize that the only way you are supposed to fight reasonably well by yourself is with a pet..
welcome to pokemon online!
there is zero way to effectively crowd control now.. which was a big part of the carbineer class.. Carbineer got punished with this patch.. and it doesnt matter now that charge shot 2 isnt working.
lame devs have no idea how to balance thegame and its pittifully obvious.. The T21 circle jerk and now the heavy weapons...
heh and Holo wonders "why are there so many novice pistoleers?"
novice medic 2/0/1/3 - Carbineer 1/3/3/3 - CH 3/3/2/3 - Squad leader 0/0/0/1
I solo reds still although with great difficulty and more then 1 will for certain equal death.
To me the changes seem to have effected PvP more then PvE.
Criple shot is ok damage (more then burst 1 and burst 2 (basicly burst2 is burst one with a 2 instead of a 1) -although some kind of effect like dizzy added tocriple shotwould make it balanced.
Also would like to know why when i full auto 1 or 2 it shows dizzy for less then a second on the target then nothing?
The way I have always understood this is that the different cons should be read like this -
If I stand here, and the mob stands there, and we trade blows, who beats up the other and how hard?
I feel that this should not factor in things like special moves and tactics, because if a con is rated including these factors, then special moves and tactics become meaningless. Players should be rewarded for finding ways to handle tough mobs. Its fun to know that you can handle creatures that would otherwise be dangerous to you, because you did something other than hit the auto-attack key and then went to make a sandwich! Granted, its not like we do that much more, but its still something, and its better than most MMORPGs.
If I am not mistaken, the devs used to talk all the time on these boards about how they were trying to make this game so that use of tactics mattered, and that it wouldn't be just hitting the auto-attack and waiting for the result. So what happened to that kind of thinking? It was good thinking!!!
