I've just recently got the game and started a carbineer.

I've lurked this board a bit and read about weapons and it helped me a lot but what I'd like to know some more info about, is armor.

What armor do you carbineers wear? Right now I wear only clothes becauseI thought weapons were a bigger priority than armor since I don't get attacked by creatures very often (they die before they can reach me).

So what's the word on armor? None (clothes) or do you wear something?

Most of the time I run around in just plain clothes, occasionally using a pesonal shield generator. But My armor of choice is chitin. I use my armor mainly when fighting humanoid NPC's, PC's(people that may use guns) and creatures that I may not be able to drop before they get to me. I would say I wear armor only about 25% of the time. But a good set of armor will get your butt out of a jam, I would recomend chitin, ubese or tantel for a carbineer. The heavier stuff like padded and composite would be more of a hinderance than a help due to special costs.

Thanks.

I'll save for a set of ubese or chitin.

tantel is good....when you don't have different *$(*)! stats on it everytime you take a shuttle or log into the game. other than that, ubese boots/gloves, tantel helm/chestplate works pretty good.

Check out this guide:

LeftsideLinks:

And then this guide:
- Armor Fundamentals

Here the complete link,

So even if you wear the cheapest, lowest protection bonus, lowest HAM encumbrance BONE armor, you get ArmorRating "Light".

Recently me (human, chitin armor) and my Wookiee friend got overrun by some squills (erm, I am pretty sure I did not shoot their lair *innocent whistle*).

The Wookiee kept getting hit for 150 to 200.
I was getting hit for 80 to 120.

Could have been Rills, I keep mixing up those names. The four-legged lizards, not the bipedal running thingies. Still were "even con" to us.

i would suggest one of the low encumberance armors. but don't get the pants. the pants really hurt your action regeneration. since our attacks mostly use action, we want to have that recharge as quickly as possible.
