Thread: Dear SOJ
I know you must be a busy fellow. I can respect that. Please take the few minutes to post in the following threads. You even pasted the link to one (but as of now haven't even posted in it - having our correspondent post there might give the thread a little more oomf) :

Furthermore:
You have stated you do not feel you are the Voice for the Carbine Community. This is painfully evident in the "Where is our voice?" type of posts. I'ld really like you to be that voice. I think most are in agreement that no new report needs to be done (just revisions to Week #2) because nothing has been adressed. I think most would also agree that more activity from us is needed as well.
I also think, however, that part of the pistoleers achievements in getting heard is two fold: 1) their numbers and 2) their correspondent. I count six threads authored by him on their front page atm. Asking for the community support in the petition threads, what they think, etc. It is obvious that we cannot compete with the userbase that pistoleers have. We can however, compete with the desire and effort the Pistoleer Correspondent (sp? -- mine is horrible. and typing for that matter).....if we have a front man/woman that is willing to go that mile.
Frankly, what I'm getting at is are you willing to go that mile? If yes, then please show us and the DEVs. If not, please step down and go back to being away from the board for almost a week. Sometimes reading just isn't enough.
Any tests I can help do? Any information I can gather? Any pushing the community into action I can help with? Please, let me know.

I do realize that SOJ isn't posting on these boards very much, but he does post when it counts, and he is always informative and helpful when he does. I will tell you that what he is doing when not posting is testing out all of our specials and abilities exhaustively, taking screenshots, and making detailed reports for the devs. So, when they do decide to look our way, they will know exactly what's going on with our profession.
I agree with you that it would help for him to pitch in on these other threads, it makes the devs more aware of our situation....in theory. Right now, its pretty much only Holo keeping his eye on all of these boards, as I believe Q and a few other key players are on vacation. No real sense trying to get anyone's attention at the moment. In a week or two, however, our voice might actually have a chance to be heard. SOJ is biding his time, and I am all right with that, because I know he gets it done when it counts.

Hmm. Firstattempt at a reply goteaten by the forum monster.
At any rate:
I completely agree that SOJ is very informative. He is great at answering questions put forth on this forum. And I think I was a bit unfair in part of my first post. It is obvious that SOJ does more then just read. His level of knowledge expressed is evidence of such.
I am, however, bummed out when I read our correspondent does not feel he is the voice for us. It bums me out a bit more when I see a lack of enthusiasm on his part. He busts hump testing and compiling. I don't even disagree with not making a new report every week. I think a lot of us agree that if Week #2 has not been answered, there is not much point to do anything else other than edit/add and resend same report. But we NEED a voice. It only makes sense to me that our correspondent be that person.
Right now, SOJ is not kicking and screaming to be heard. He is compiling reports and throwing them at a brick wall. Maybe it is not his style. I can respect that. Maybe he is too busy and I can respect that too.
SOJ has said he can and will start a discussion if needed. I think it goes without saying. We carbineers NEED it. If our correspondent is not willing to shout until his voice is heard, we need to do so. He has provided us with very good info and research. Let it not go to waste.
Oobacca, striving to make kicking and screaming a master carbineer skill.
I'm aware of those threads and I do plan on posting, I just need to get a few things together. For the reports, I could make Report #3 if that's the popular demand, but I really think that it'd just be the same issues that we all want fixed that is listed in there. As far as I'm concerned, all the specials, HAM costs, KD/PC, Weapon, etc issues have been available to them for some time, including tests and screenshots. Basically, I guess it's just a waiting game until they can get the correspondent system breathing again.
However, for the threads, I'll throw something together... I'm thinking about something much like my reports with screenshots.
It does seem like the squeaky wheel gets grease sooner in this game. Maybe that's just my perception, but Pistol recently got some TLC (not to be confused with LLC) from the developers, and their correspondent is noisier than a jet engine at takeoff. I would hate to think that stylistic differences between correspondents is hindering our ability to get responses, but I wonder if that may be the case.
Since there seems to be no method the the development madness that is SOE, screaming at them may be the best way to get there attention (since two-by-fours are not practical).
We are at "several months and counting" now for any meaningful reply to our issues...
SOJ,
THanks much for your reply and time. I really appreciate it. Any screenshots, scenarios, etc I can set up, or help with....please let me know. I will be happy to lend a hand. Even if this means making a target dummy on a server for you. ![]()

SOJ,
If I could be so humble to suggest, there are IMO 2 reasons why carbine skills are of limited usefulness. The first is many don't seem to do anything different than another skill. The second is that state effects seem to have limited use in PvE. For instance, I am a BH/Carbineer and have access to knockdown, blindness, stun and dizzy. I see no real effect to a mob or even NPC when they have any of these effects on them. I pick my skills based on damage and HAM use alone and no other reason in PvE. I think its important to point out to the Devs that if a skill does a state change, then the skill is only working if the state change is working as well.
I would also suggest, since I know you are a BH to please include info on the 3 BH carbine specials. Many carbineers are also bounty hunters and so this greatly affects many people. The BH carbine skills simply don't work in PvE. The 30 second timer was added to the knockdowns yet the damage was not increased (as per patch notes) and nor were the HAM costs lowered. Carbineers and the carbine-line of Bounty Hunter share all the same problems.
In addition Holocron proposed to the pistoleers they get a cone effect that only hits targets that are hostile to the shooter. Carbineers should have many many of their AoE specials converted to hostile-only cones.
Lastly, detail exactly what you feel is wrong with a skill and be very detailed. They aren't testing so dont assume they are going to. If a skill has no usefullness in the game, point it out. For example, Scattershots do the same damage as Burstshot but do it to 3 pools instead of 1 (so if it does 1000 damage, it does a third to each). There is little practical use indinging each HAM bar for a little bit. Another example, wildshotdoes random damage and stun. Legshot2 (marksman skill) doesaction damage and stun. We do not need2 skills that stun.
