Thread: 33 points to spend ...

Hi there


I'm an aspiring master doc and, after careful distribution of my points, will have 33 skill points to invest into the carbineer tree. Now, novice takes away 6 so i'm at 27 to spend into the lines.


I have come up with the following possibilities:


1-3-0-2 (scatter 1, crippling, full auto area 1, charge 1)


0-3-1-2 (crippling, burst 1, full auto area 1, charge 1)


Other ideas?


Also, is it recommendable to drop the ranged support line in Marksman altogether and invest those points into the counterinsurgency tree (resulting in suppression fire 2 and some resists)?

Although I'm no Master Carbineer... I'll pass along my opinion.


The first special I got was burst shot 1, because the damage is real good for the level. I'm now working my way towards crippling shot. Leg shot 3 is no better than 2, but I understand that Crippling may be the best special in the tree.


I'm not sure I would give up ranged support in the marksman tree. That line has a defence mod and more importantly has a ranged aiming mod. Now, a Master Carbineer may have better info than I, but these mods should help overall (if your shot misses, that 1000 damage does not mean anything!)


The only reason I can see to go Master in Carbineer are these mods, from what I can see. I am also carefully looking as to where to put my skill points. Carbineer is the only line I intend to master at this point.


I hope a more experienced Carbineer might add their opinion also

Were I a doctor this is the distribution I would pick.

Carbineer 4/0/2/2


This requires you to loose supression fire from the marksman tree. Giving that up for 5 points is well worth it as you can spend less points getting counterinsurgency II anth those nice defensive bonuses.

The first boxI got in the carbine tree was burst I, very good damage, way lessHAM than full auto shots. This was a good idea. However, after that I went slightly wrong. I focused all my attention on getting cripiling shot, only to find that the damage was not much higher than burst shot and the HAM costs and slow speed made it way inefficient to use without the speed bonuses of the Assult Tactics line. Could I go back and do it differnetly I would have gotten to assult tactics II for the +15 bonus to speed and then gone for conterinsurgency II for the defensive bonuses.


I think the special abilities tree isvery important becasue it gives you a good KD and a decent area attack for social aggro mobs, while giving bonuses to accuracy while moving, which as a Doctor would be invaluable running and shooting to heal group memebers.


I also believe speed is important. Without any assult tactics i fired cripiling shots every 4 to 5 seconds with a 2.8 sliced speed lazer carbine. This is slow. WIth assult IV you will fire 30% faster.


Just my thoughts, take them or leave them.
