Thread: Don't underestimate Scattershot 2 or Wildshot 2

I just made "Mercenary" last night and I was testing out Wildshot 2. While Wildshot 1 seems more like a move you would use to apply an effect on a mob, Wildshot 2 (cone effect) is a much harder hitting special move. I was hitting harder with Wildshot 2 then I did with Full Auto Area 1.

Scattershot2 or Scatterblast hits a single target very hard also, harder then Burstshot1. I would guess on average that Scattershot 2 ishitting for over 1/3 close to 1/2more damage then Burstshot 1. Yesits over 3 pools but Burstshot 1 does not hit a specific pool either and if you first Burstshot1three times and first Scattershot 2three timesyou will havedown significantly more damage.

I dont have Cripple yet but I will compare the 2 when I get it

Graf,

I am one of the few carbineers ( so one of the few of the few) who prefers scattershot2 to crippleshot.

On average my scatters do about 1200 damage. This is calculated on the above head figure as the combat window figure is not working, using an elite carbine that averages about 180 damage (from combat window) against AR0 opponents. A crippleshot for me with the same weapon on the same target averages about 1500 (again the above head figure for consistency), but and for me it's a big but, cripple costs me more ham and is slower, I can probably get 3 scattershot2's to every 2 crippling shots approximatly. So I actually do more dps with scatter than cripple for similar ham costs by the time you calculate the extra shot I am firing.

Crippleshot is completly random on it's pool, as it scatter. Allthough scatter hits all pools at the same time I find it predominantly hits health, then action, then mind. I find it takes a target down quicker than cripplingshot.

Sarne,

If you have bounty hunter carbine skills, then yes, you are right. Cripple is as fast as scatter2. If you just have carbineer skills, then it's slower, not dramatically slower, but enough slower.

I had bounty carbine 3 for some time, and could spam off cripleshots at a rate of 1. Now I'm a pure carbineerI cant.

Isrealy,

I use mainly elite carbine and dxr6. Although the elite is far from being elite, I like the consistency of the damage, compared to the higher damage of a laser, which half the time hits for peanuts.

Apart from the damage type being different, there is very little difference between the dxr and the elite on the eclipse server.

Yeah I know, I was just posting that to give a different viewpoint of it too The relative effectiveness of most of the specials gets kinda twisted when they start firing at the same speed, probably one big reason why people disagree on them alot

Your right, it does mess the figures around a bit. I was trying to show them from a pure carbineer view. However there are so many pistoleers/carbineers with some BH skills, and BH's with pistol/carbine skills that the whole picture does get slightly distorted.

I would like to see all of the BH weapons to be specialist BH weapons and not related to the weapons of another class. Give the bounty hunter a carbine and pistol equivilent that do not use the same skill mods as pistoleer and carbineer.

Get rid of the class dabblers, and make carbineers and pistoleers the masters of their weapons, not second string players compared to bounty hunters.

I am a master carbineer and I had bounty carbine IV. I dropped it recently, and darn did it make me weak.. I was shooting any special at 1.0 speed before and soloing just about anything(except stuff like Krayts[did kill a few, but that wasnt because of skill ] and somethings that have freaky energy resistance(No, I wont use anything except my krayt laser ). I used to use cripple on everything. Not even consider using other moves. But now that I am "just" master carbineer, I use scatter2. Crippling shoots at 3.0 speed for me now. Scatter like 2 second. Havent tried wildshot2, doesnt sound too good attack from its description.

"Get rid of dabblers."

You and many others just dont seem to understand. This is a skill-based game not a class based game (ala Diablo). Dabbling is what its about in these games. You arenot supposed to Master the elite classes, if you were, players would get big rewards whichthey dont. They devs are not going to change this and if you follow their posts carefully theysay this (even this week Holocron discussed moving speed increases from the master pistoleer box down into the lower trees).

This is a dabblers game. Dabble or not, that's your choice but you must realize this is a dabbling game and you cannot be mad at others for doing it nor demand rewards for not dabbling.

I have no problem with dabbling. But being virtually FORCED to dabble *in BH* is just wrong. The power difference those extra speed points make is really **edit**ed up, and needs to be fixed -- whether by fixing speed so that nobody caps specials, ever, or by making cross-class skill mods not stack, I don't care. But something needs to be done. There's a difference between promoting dabbling (which increases variety) and promoting ONE SPECIFIC partial profession combo, which just creates a new, "virtual" profession that's way overpowered.

Another view on cripple, I've done pretty lengthy tests with that actually a while back, tested on the same mobs with bh carbine/carbineer so the speed was capped and there was no speed difference between the shots.

Cripple shot in that case took down the mobs considerably faster than scatter shot, there were a few instances cripple shot actually took more shots to drop them since scattershot damage seemed to be more consistent, but they were very rare, and not enough for me to use scatter2 over cripple
