Thread: Decided to go up Rifleman until Carbine is fixed if it ever will

i was developing a master c medic, master carbineer char, taking into account the carbineer prof in fact was not working, and considering that with a rifle i could also hit the mind pool in addition to what i will do with the c medic, i decided to give up carbine for the time being and go for rifleman.

you have done a big mistake...trus me I was rifleman and now Im carbineer...even with all the broken stuff...carb is much better...just remember the 2.5 modifier when using arifle and something attacks you melee...I got killed by fragging krettels once!!!!!!!

Also, remember that a Rifleman's specials use mind pool which is what the CM part of you would need to use his abilities. I hope you have a solid muon gold supplier...

i have retought it, and made a few rifles with my ws character, and decided that rifleman is worth the effort in that its specials are working. at least more special works than the carbineer. and about mind pool, i have made myself a laser rifle and experimented its ham mind cost from 60 to 41, which is almost in par with a carbine's action cost. the cm will need mind pool yes, and rifle too, but im thinking to hit the special when time is ripe. at least theyll complement each other.

furthermore, previously i had to pay attention to my both action and mind pools, and arrange my stat migration accordingly. now ill go for all out willpower and focus, this way itll be more concentrated

What are the mindcosts like on carbine specials?


I'm thinking of picking up carbineer on my alt, I want a change from the mind costs of rifle.

well with my 450 focus and a 24 mind cost laser carbine my direct mind cost is 19 with cripplingshot and 12 with scattershot and burst 1 and 2.

i have a rifelman as my main


they suck until you hit master and get strafe 2 (which i havent)


but then you dont need XP anymore so whats the point, and the grind getting there is horrid

with 3 hours of play i halved rifles 4, i have made myself a laser rifle with the other char, which uses advanced components, i put a good powerup on it and at rifles i was hitting kamus 2680 with overcharge 1, and later with head shot 1 i am hitting 2100 or so.

well there are different feedbacks comin from ppl in this topic, however i dont see the point to continue with carbineer as its specials are not working. at least specials in rifle working am i wrong ? i checked the rifleman forum and i havent seen half the complaints there is in the carbineer forum.



which carbine specials work by the way, is there a list ?

Rifleman is pretty good once you hit master as long as you can handle two things.


1.) Using mind for specials.


2.) 2.5x melee damage.


Those are two pretty major drawbacks, however the AE damage a MRM can throw out is pretty amazing. Pre-master a lot of people find rifleman a bit poor, however after master most people really enjoy the profession.


Broken specials: Surprise shot.


Specials with major problems: Conceal shot until the next patch, Startleshot 1+2, HS3.


Good specials: Strafe2, HS2, MS1+2, Flushing2, Flurry2, Snipershot (PvP only and misses too often but still great fun).


It is a pretty fun profession if you're not looking to be the next uber profession, it has advantages and disadvantages.


Before someone points it out, yes I know this is the Carbineer board, but the first poster gave me a hand so I figure it's only fair I tell him what I think of rifleman.
