Can anyone confirm this...I was looking at the certs, and seems rifleman get certified for the E11 Rifle and pistoleers get certs for the DH17? Is this why when I look at my skill tree I have rifle and pistol XP even though I haven't used a rifle or pistol in months? The XP pools keep increasing, I thought it was a bug...

The reason I am asking is that I have taken up BH, and I have enough XP to buy my way through all the carbine levels in the BH class...I was wondering if switching to a DH17 short would pick up my pistol XP while letting me keep specials like chargeshot and burstshot.

There is an E11 Rifle and Carbine. I often pick up the rifle instead of the carbine by accident. This is probably what you're doing.

And, there's also a DH17 pistol. It looks exactly like a CDEF/DH17 Carbine, even held the same way, but it's a pistol.
