Way back when Dantooine was a death trap, Creature Handlers ruled the land, and bank accounts rarely passed 100k for most players, I leveled Carbineer.

Not with grinding strategies or armor or even Chef foods...but in the oft-mentioned and almost mythic Group. These groups had many styles of players from the medics and scouts and their invaluable camps and stims, to the somewhat suicidal brawlers and melee tanks, to the ranged fighters, and sometimes an artisan or too. And don't forget the most beneficial force in the wilds, Creature Handlers!

We made our groups at the Mining Outpost on Dantooine, barren of macro shouting Docs and barker droids but chock full of players looking to form their own voritor hunting groups or piket/thune groups.

Groups would form, many filling to the 20 member limits, and each would grab two missions (40 total if u were lucky).

Then the fun would begin.

Sure we died, sure we ran in terror from runaway voritors and huurtons, but we enjoyed it And the XP rolled in sometimes, making it all the more sweeter.

As a Carbineer back then, I was the group healers best friend with the insane ham costs, getting healed constantly similar to when a ammo feeder reloads a machine gun, stim after stim after stim. I also helped the melee tanks, popping off a charge shot or two and dropping the foes and creatures.

Oh well, enough of that...

I still do that !

Mastered Carbineer on monday, I started dropping my BH and MM to fill up my Squadleader boxes again. I tend to keep the group limit to 8 - 12 ppl so it doesnt take so long to form the group and to have a more lasting "impact" on all players as I tend to talk/chat/command a lot as Squadleader (yeah i have a long list of ready aliases for a lot of situations). I like my support groug as squad leader as well as carbineer, getting squills on their back or even forcing dragonets to their knees. I just have to be carefull with my area attacks not to hit the lair to much to spawn them to faster then the group can handle ...
=)

And yes a healer along with the group, you always have someone right next to you, since you are his first target with the huge ham costs. Have a look " the old way " link in my sig, you ll like it.

I did it on lok, me and 3 RL friends. One of my friends just sat on me, healing me, as I shot at stuff, I gave him master docter in about a week, just from healing me. it became a little easier once he figured out what the buffs were, +300 to action, quickness, and stamina were a HUGE help(back then anyway). After awhile we graduated to Dantooine, back when Pikets were spawning right next to the Imperial Outpost, it was a crazy shoot till you die, clone, heal, and shoot again fest. It was neat back then, I remember we went krayt hunting, the krayt just raped us, got everyone but my doc friend down, he rezzed me, then he got incapped, I started shooting, and running, thats when I found out how good charge shot was

The doc was able to get up, get everyone else up, and we killed the thing. Looted some +30 tissue off it

Good times, good times.
