Thread: MC is it any good?
MBH/MC is a great combo for the legshot/Crit shot combo for damage output. Hunting jedi is a great perk if you're into that. The extra accuracy and speed is nice as well.
I dropped BH and picked up carbineerfor two main reasons: E11 mark 2 &Battle Armor. I've had smuggler as my main profession for about a year and a half now. During my brief stint as a master BH, I didn't find any special was better than the carbine ones except for Improved Critical or whatever. The weapons I was certed for and hadwere very inferior as a BH. When I dropped BH and picked up carbineer, I was able to also pick up a little music skill (which will eventually become FS skill) also.
In short, I've had a MUCH more enjoyable time as a Master Smuggler/Master Carbineer than I did as a Master Smuggler/Master Bounty Hunter.
Ironically, I'm better at fighting Jedi now than I was when I had BH...
I am about to start the trek to MC/MBH. But i am not sure which to go for first. I was thinking of startign MC since then i will have some specials under my belt when i start up MBH. But i have heard that the better defenses are to be foudn in BH.
Anyway.....from what i have read MBH/MC is one of the best combos gogin right now. A friend of mine id going MBH/MRifle so we will see who comes out on top.
Work 0444 BH, then you'll have 0004 Carbines before you start you grind.

One thing to note is that Carbineer & Rifleman play VERY differently.
To make use of ALL of Carbineer's specials, you need to be STANDING (Charge Shots, Rapid Fires). This implies mobility, flexibility, and speed of attack. This implies the playstyle of an infantryman equipped with a real life Assault Rifle.
To make use of ALL of Rifleman's specials, you need to be PRONE! (Cover, Concealed Shots, Sniper Shots). This implies a designated marksman / sniper / big game hunter type of playstyle. Slower, methodical, powerful.
You need to decide which of these suits your playstyle. You can come up with fancy, high stat templates, but if you don't like the FEEL of the template, then you may drop professions out of distaste.

This is so incredibly true.
I was a rifleman pre-CU, but I always had a bit of a carbine fetish and tended towards rifles like the E11 / DXR6. I loved to play the gunner role and enjoyed the run 'n' gun feel. When the CU hit, and rifles became more of a sniper position than the gunner I'd always played as, I made the switch to carbines. I haven't changed my style much, and it just feels right.

Agreed. The MBH/MCarbs combo is tough and powerful, but Im finding myself getting bored of it really fast. I almost feel obligated to hunt Jedi, even though I dont enjoy it any more because of all the house sitters and Kashyyyk exploiters(and before a Jedi starts with the usual rubbish, I dont mean grinding on Kashyyyk is an exploit; a bad design decision, yes, but I mean the people who use LoS exploits on the Ryatt Trail to become un-targetable and grind in complete safety from mobs and BH).
It also feels as if Im only using BH for one special and the General Ranged mods; Carbineer has a better KD, a better Snare etc, so I just wind up using carb specials and critical shot.
Instead, Ive decided to go Master Carbineer, Master Commando, Squad Leader xxx4. Basically, in exchange for a single special, I get to have fun roasting things, blowing things up, vapourising things with particle cannons and tossing grenades like a loon, plus I can yell at stupid people in the group with a bright-red system message when they WONT STOP SHOOTING THE DAMN LAIR!
Thanks to the SL xxx4, I have the same General Ranged Accuracy, and only 5 less speed with Carbines, so all in all, Im looking forward to it, just a few days of grinding to go
