what gives...where can I go or what method can I use to get some decent xps....it would take me forever at this rate....please help....

what CL are you?

You only get XP if the creature/NPC is of similar level to you or greater.
You loose some thing like 10% XP for every level lower than yourself (or something like that, dont take this as a hard fact). So if you are level 50 and kill something level 20 , you will get nothing.
Best way to get XP is run missions. Missions will give you the same level as the highest level in the group. If you are on your own, it will be you. Much easier to get XP in a group as you only need to make one hit on the creature and you will get good XP when it dies.

It seems if you kill anything like 3 or so levels lower than you, you get only 1 xp.

As long as the MOB cons anything but grey you will get xp.
green
white
blue
yellow
red
and purple

Also make sure you know the CL of people you're grouped with.
If you are CL 30 and would normally get exp off of CL 28 or whatever critters, but you group up with someone who's CL 80 - that goes right out the window.
The game makes you effectively the same CL as the person with the highest CL in the group. So 7 guys that are CL 30 grouped with one guy that's CL 80, will get only 1 xp off of any CL 30 mobs until the higher CL guy leaves the group.
The rather bright side to this - is that this same group can effectively hunt CL 80 mobs.
