Right now I am testing carbines a little before respec goes away completely. I have tried crippling shot on several creatures the past 15 minutes and it doesn't seem to do anything at all, is it broken? Beasts just come running no matter what

Also....how much food and junk must I stuff into myself to not drain the action bar after just a couple of seconds?

the trick to saving your action bar is not use so many specials, so fast, I usualy just use brandy, and rarely have action problems,

and for crippling shot, that skill doesnt stop them from moving, it slows their movement speed for about 15 seconds, in otherwards, snare them, like lecpine dart traps do, from scout, ROOT, is Stopping shot, and concussion shot from pistoleer/smuggler, also the 'adhesive mesh' also ROOTs, from scout.

How do you not use specials all the time? Weapons won't even fire now unless you use one...

And yes I've got stopping show also right now. Just trying to make myself a much more effective scout. Always been a ranger but sadly that profession is just a pile of broken/useless skills and broken crafted items.

Thing is I can't seem to keep creatures away from me long enough to kill them, always have them in melee half the fight, and that partly due to the action bar being drained after like 5 seconds

Use "Ranged Shot" - its the most basic shot for Ranged weapons and uses no or vitually no action - does reasonable damage, nothing great but better than waiting and doing no damage while your action is regenerating.

You can also get Action Cost reducing power-ups, spice and any food/drink that gives your action regen a boost will help - I can't think of them all off the top of my head but just go to a chef vendor and examine a few...

I use Blob Candy and Scrimpi a lot, as they are fairly low fill and last a reasonable amount of time. But there are plent of others, usually the greater the benefit the shorter amount of time the food lasts.

On how not to use specials, take a look at "ranged shot", that one doesn't use action. Although i can also tell you, if you use a GOOD weapon, you can also spam specials. (Without foods or with little food use.)

A good weapon in my eyes has high damage and low SAC, speed is not to be totally ignored, but also not the primary concern. (The higher the speed and the higher SAC, the faster you are out of action. High damage and low SAC gives you very high damage for each action point used...)

About cripple shot, the attack is very good, just don't spam it. Hit the enemy once with it, start running. The target will be slow for some time and has no chance to catch up with you. Death for any melee enemy, in my eyes more painful for them than root, the root breaks quickly, the snare lasts noticeably longer.

to set a attack on auto-attack, press and hold ctrl, then click the attack, IE, set your auto attack as ranged shot.

Here's how you do it (and you don't even need Stopping shot). Like they said, put Ranged shot as your default attack.

Hit it with Crippling shot and move away from it in a bigarc. Now it's slower than you, so run circles around it with gun blazing. When the cripple wears off (watch for the debuff icon to disappear), knock it down with Charge shot, then hit it with Legshot and Advanced rapid fire or whatever. Now the timer has reset and you can Cripple it again. Repeat as necessary. Watch your action and lay off the power shots at times so you don't end up out of action when you really need to cripple or kd.

Cripling shot prolly the advanced version can be one of your best friends, the key to using it is to snair and run like hell as it keeps you out of mele range, save your charged shot incase your target gets in to mele range and is beating up you. KD then cripple whilst running away.

I use Advanced Cripling shot then Advanced Leg Shot, which is my default attack. I can have action problems if a fight lasts for a long time, If this is the case I have other problems also like being dead........but it does not usually take too long with an Elite an Advanced leg shot

remember cripple and keep moving in a circle around your target, even encumbered you can stay out of mele range when your target is snaired.
