Thread: Carbine HAM costs are fine

Hmm this could become a problem...


Well the doctor/carbineer say the HAM costs are fine, due to their buffs they can cope with the HAM costs on the carbineer specials. I have some points in doctor and I am able to buff myself, so yes at this point, I can cope with the specials - i.e burst shot with buffs on me results in a 99 hovering over my head, still pretty high but I regen much faster.


On the other hand BH/carbineers find the HAM costs to be way too high, however they find a speed buff - either to the weapons or by giving better speed mods in the carbineer tree fairly useless, as they run around with a speed pretty close to 100.


I really feel if the carbineer is to be fixed, we all need to look at the carbineer profession isolated, disregarding whatever we get from doctor or bounty hunter or creature handler or whatever. Look at the carbineer it falls short to both rifleman and pistoleer in terms of what you get from the tree.


Anyways I think those that are bounty hunter/carbineer should try to remember how it was back when they were master marksmen - running around with a laser carbine at 35 speed. And the doctor/carbineers should go out hunting without their buffs - this should be an eye opener for both.


Right now, the carbineer cannot stand on its own feet, yeah it works ok with doctor, its pretty damaging with bounty hunter and also pretty good if you are a creature handler. But I don't think it fair to say that other carbineers simply HAVE to find doctor buffs somewhere before they can do anything (other than killing rills that is) or other carbineers HAVE to slice their weapon for speed or find a skill enhancer that adds to carbine speed in order to shoot at the same rate of the comparable professions (pistoleer, Rifleman).

SITHLORDACID,dude are you on crack,,,i was once a expert carbineer now a master commando ,,just expert carbineer till they fixed commmando...DUDE ham cost for using the laser carbineer were freakin hellish,,,ive been playing since day one ive dueled over 100people one on one and did faction dueling almost everyday,,carbineer ham cost are like 200% higher then what they should be,,


When you stack bh with carbineer you just kill your self using specials,,yea if you use pixie and buffs it helps tremendiously..to bad pixie has a draw back and you cant always get buffs everysecond of the day when you run out.


I do forsee carbineer to be better then pistoleers when they fix the ham cost and fix pistoleers speed bugg


I had a 450 dmg laser carbineer with power ups and i did hellish dmg with crippleshot,,but it would kill me just doing specials


Who ever thinks the ham cost are just fine ,,,try out another class,,you will see,,and try to wear armor with a laser carbinee you just kill yourself

The HAM costs are not the problem for carbineers. Tatooine Sunburns, Neutron Pixies, and Doctor Buffs can be used to keep the HAM expenses under control. If you're going to change something, make the abilities more powerful, carbines more powerful, lower the time mod for the abilities, or lower the time for the carbines, since this can only be helped by ONE slice. IMO, lowering the normal speed of a laser carbine is ideal since the damage doesn't seem to be a problem. Or, lowering the time mod of cripple shot from 2 to 1.5 and Full auto single 2 from 1.5 to 1. All I'm saying is that if you're trying to make the carbines and carbineers better, don't change the HAM costs. Change something that can't be helped in game.

Under most circumstances, other classes (pistoleer) don't have to use buffs to deal with their HAM costs. Besides, the combat dev posted the costs were too high.

Well, what everyone is talking about is when they don't have the ability to buff at the time that they shoot, and the cost goes to somewhere like -170 action health, etc. Thats like 5 shoots before you're completely out of action or health. I used to be able to go an infinite amount of times when I was a pistoleer. HAM costs for the carbine, ,a good level is probably around 60-80 costs.

Yes, the other professions don't have to use buffs, but if the time was lowered or the damage was raised then the HAM costs wouldn't really matter anymore. While pistoleers don't need buffs to use their special abilities, they also have low damage to balance this out. If we're going to have high HAM costs for special abilities, let's balance it out by raising damage or lowering time?

yea, i cant count the number of times i have killed myself using specials. I mean sure my health action and mind are kinda low at only 800. but with my current seconday stats, i have a massive regen rate. ( something alot of ppl dont seem to under stand ) and i have stim b's that have a healing of over 200. yet between my regen rate and stims, i have still killed myself with specials when fighting npc's because of my always extreamly low action.

and yea, if you take a pixie, a sunburn, and a buff. anything is fine. I mean good lord man thats probly giving you like 3 times your normal ham amounts.

Hell I just have Carb III on the marksman tree and doing legshot 1 autofire 1 more then 3 times kills me ok maybe 4.

1st tier carbineer. laser carbine, 67-305 dmg. 1 fullauto2 shot=187 action pool to me.


it be broked. nuff said.
