Thread: A collection of carbineer issues w/ a constructive analysis
Greetings fellow Carbineers! I am Major Gedriden Datank of the Intrepid server, Master Carbineer, Master Creature-Handler, and Field Stabilizer. I wanted to reiterate both from my personal experiences, and through reading our forum, the major issues affecting us carbineers, and come up with some viable solutions.
#1. Broken specials.
I feel this is the most important problem that needs to be solved first. How can we fix everything else when our specials aren't working? We need to have all our specials working properly in order to tell exactly where we stand. Charge Shot 2 is STILLnot using a cone to area-knockdown. Dizzy is bugged on our full auto singles and areas (wears off instantly). Legshot3 is not working properly apparently.
Solution: .... FIX EM!!! SOE hear me and the carbineer community out. Our special attacks ARE broken! The entire carbineer community has been complaining about it since release! We have not gotten a formal acknowledgement that some of these specials are broken. Carbineers as they stand are the weakest ranged profession in the game.
#2. HAM costs for specials need to be adjusted.
This one is fairly self-explanatory. Quite often, especially PvP, I do more damage to myself then I do to the person im shooting at. How useful are specials when you literally put your leg in front of the barrell and then pull the trigger? Personally, I entirely disagree with HAM cost for using specials in its entire existing format.
Solution: Either reduce ham costs for carbineer specials, or completely redo the HAM system. It is exceptionally harder to defeat enemies when your helping them kill you as fast as you can shootyour specials.
#3.Elite Carbine. Either devs left outa digit on the damage capabilities orelites are some kinda sick joke.
There is not one carbineer I know that would touch an elite carbine with a 10-foot pole much less going into life-or-death situations with one. Personally I use 2.6 speed 70-388 laser carbine. I can squeeze a round off just about one per second with these babies and usually hit for the 500's. My carbine weaponsmith doesn't even make elites anymore, he couldn't sell em.
Solution: Obviously we need to sit down and figure out what went wrong with elites and give carbineers a carbine that only Carbineers earn the right ot use, and carbineers WANT to use! Riflemen have T21's... our Elites should be our class-defining special carbine that not every marksman can use (like the laser carbine.) BH's have LLC's... Commandos have flamethrowers, etc. but they can both also use laser carbines (our best carbine in mostsituations.) Which brings me to point #4.
#4. Armor piercing rating on carbines working correctly?
I have ran some basic tests but so far the results dont look promising. OurAP rating on our carbines dont work. Can anybody verify this? Laser Carbines have AP2 which should help its damage output but I can't get it to show any evidence of a AP bonus compared to AP0 weapons.
The bottom line here should be rifleman and pistoleer have gotten there golden days handed to them, rifleman aren't so happy anymore because they can't one-shot kill players with resist sliced composite helms: I say to them try and kill a player with a carbine you'll go running back to rifleman screaming ![]()
Carbineers need their golden days now. It is September 25th today. 2 1/2 months or so after release? Carbineers still have problems with their profession that shouldn't even have made it past beta. Please, I am begging you, as an avid SWG fan and strong supporter of SOE thus far, resolve these issues. And be generous. Carbineers are really hurting right now, and most of the ones I know on the Intrepid server have either left the profession or the game altogether ![]()
Carbineers: Please add anything I may have missed, lets keep this positive and constructive! This is a carbineer board I dont want BH's and pistoleers coming in here saying their's nothing wrong with us, this thread isn't for you. This thread is for the people logging into SWG and heading into the field of battle with a weapon that has a barrell on both ends of it.
agree with all, but i would move HAM costs up to #1 for sure. yeah, specials are broken, but u can get around that and actually kills stuff with the ones that are working, problem is, the ones that do work take so much HAM, that they are almost unusable. my current laser carbine is 67-305(decent), but full auto2 takes over180 action lol. surprisingly, i cant use it much. my night goes something like this: leave town, find 1 monster, fight it for 1-2 minutes using legshot2 or fullauto2, kill monster, setup camp, wait 10 minutes___repeat all. not a very fun time.then i watch pistoleers go thru the valley and kill everything in range without stopping to breathe. i think if i at least had HAM costs in line with other weapons, i could be semi-affective with the skills that arent broke at least. as it is, i kill myself in the lowliest of fights/creatures. i seem to do very decent damage(not as much as i'm seeing pistols do mind u), but i cant do that dmg without killing myself 1st.
i just passed novice carbineer and am on 1st tier. last night i got OWNED by 1 lonely rock mite lol. missed4 times in a row, hit twice with fullauto--then no action pool left=dead. then a noob lowlevl marksman comes up with a stock pistol and ownes the mite....very, very, very sad. that was only 1 creature, when 2 or more attack, it's just silly. not even worth hitting the attack button as i know i'm dead.
wanted to be carbine/CH, but it's just to hard. i'm going to HAVE to switch to medic/carbine just to kill anything, or switch to pistols, although i loathe to do it.
