Thread: carbineers > pistoleers?
Well I think the specials for the carbineer have a higher damage multiplier than those in pistoleer, so yeah if you shoot 1 special the carbine will probably do more damage (if its a laser carbine you may do less - damage range and all)
However, with the higher damage on specials you get a ton of other problems. I see you are a ranger also - well I think you'll have to drop that in order to do really well with a carbine. Maybe if you have 30-40 points leftover to put into medic, maybe then you will be able to do decent.
The problem is that our specials are also highly damaging to ourselves, the average carbineer can drain his action pool in about 5 specials. Also if you keep ranger, you'll most likely not shoot any carbine, other than perhaps a DH17 snubnose at the speed cap.
You will also take higher damage from mobs, due to melee, and you will probably also notice more misses. And last but not least - you won't be able to control your damage done aswell as with pistoleer - as our high damage specials are pretty much all random pool.
But if you don't mind this tradeoff for the extra little damage, then yes go with carbineer.
This is the exact same for pistoleer, all the way up to the point of their bodyshot3 being broken like legshot3.

well creatures aren't a problem really. can trap them to slow them down and do more damage, but i think i'll stay with my pistol for now. thanks for the info.
oh btw, i'm not dropping ranger. ![]()
