Thread: DXR6 AP bonus broken?
Ok so in my previous post about armor bonuses/damage a poster pointed out that if a target has no resistences to a specific type of attack - the damage completly bypasses the armor rating, thus an AR 0 gun doing heat damage against an AR 3 target with 0 % heat resistence would do FULL damage. This was in the dev post about armor.
So Im shooting a snorbal with my DXR6, as it has no acid resistence, so my attacks should be bypassing armor. However if you figure in that the DXR6 is an AP 1 gun, shouldnt that AP bonus be applied to my damage as well? So it should be full damage + AP damage? This wasnt the case. I was shooting it for X damage in my combat screen, and the same was appearing over its head. So I was receiving no AP bonus.
Do I have this all correctly? Or did I miss something somewhere.
I would say it is a bug as well.
I always examine my target and attack the vulnerabilites. I guess it would be better to use my laser carbine to attack creatures with light (or no) armor and low resists (20% or less) to energy than to attack one with vulnerabilites to acid with my DXR6. That sounds like a bug to me.
I agree, it seems out of wack. I think I was still doing MORE damage to a snorbal with 0 armor and 40% energy resists than I was using my DXR6 which does acid, and a snorbal has 0% resist to, simply because the DXR6 was applying to AP bonuses, yet the laser was applying its AP bonuses(AP 2 over AR 0).
Kinda makes the point of varied damage guns pointless if a high AP energy gun is better anyways.
It has to be a bug.. .and it seems to never work in PVP.. we have same problem with Dx2
Carbineers and pistoleers are in like the same boat, as far as broken skills and such ![]()
