Thread: which shot do most folks use for pve

i just grabbed novice and want to know which shot i should use or get the boxes so i can use for solo pve with a pet or group pve..thanks a lot 8)

I used to almost always use burstshot1 in PvE until I got all of the carbine speed mods. Then I switched to the chargeshot1, scattershot2 combo.

i use scatter2...has a more even HAM drain than crippleshot (which drains very heavily on action) and has a lower drain on mind than crippleshot...so even if you're doc buffed, the "crucial" pool is less affected. it's a very strong shot...sorta impossible to know exactly how strong due to the multi-pool bugged combat spam...someone really should investigate the mods on it w/ an ap0 weapon on the floating numbers, just extremely difficult since it hits 3times to random pools.


scatter2 believe it or not is actually a great shot for PVP as well, since it tends to hit mind alot more heavily than the other specials, players that are buffed on all 6doc buffs but aren't hitting the mind food/drink heavily tend to get mind incapped quite easily...and being as 50% of players in PVP these days are riflemen, hitting them in the mind is where it hurts, CMs are too busy throwing covert poisons/diseases to bother healing their mind.


burst1 is a quicker shot w/ a very modest damage multiplier, probably the best leveling move...but since scatter is in the speed tree...you might try just using them...carbineer goes very quickly anyway, just do savage quenkers on dant if leveling is an issue.


scatter2/crippleshot/burst1 seem to be the favs...i just don't care much for the drain on cripple and scatter2 seems to take targets down quicker than burst1.

Fullautosingle2 is the best DPS special you have, unless you manage to hit the speed cap (need either +speed tapes or BH carbines skill). The downside is the very high HAM costs. If you're doc buffed and have high focus/willpower (stat migration, musician buffs, food/spices, whatever you prefer), FAS2 is your best choice. Otherwise Burst Shot 1 or Crippleshot are roughly equivalent. Burst Shot 1 is probably the more useful as it fires more rapidly and any misses will hurt you less.

I just started using this combo 3 days ago but its been working very nicely for me.


I do overchargeshot1 twice and then I do a warning shot. I use this combo in dantooine, and it helped me solo pickets in the past couple of days without having to worry much. The warning shot makes them run away and the 2 ovecharge bring them back.

I was a huge advocate of BurstShot1, and still am for those occassions when you don't have a full array of buffs to work with, but the speed of FAS2 by comparison is just awesome.


For a Master with some speed power ups or tapes, CripplingShot should still be worth a look.

the ocational charge followed by warcry...then back to fas2



Maby a cripple for a one shot kill...But unless you got bh speed mods nothing will beat fas2 for dps and it even adds blind and stun wich rock....and soon dizzy even : )



If they make cripple do action damage only though id use that more...Id even take a .7 cut to the damage multiplyer on it for only action damage...or make leg shot 3 usefull.

let shot 2 is to slow and not enough damage...even with it all being action you will kill faster taking out both action and health with the ocational mind hit using fas2. If they sped it up a bit or increased the damage modifier it would be good...and it only stuns i believe where as fas2 will also blind and soon dizzy.

hrm....crippling shot here, almost exclusively, with the occasional charge shot or some such to keep them at a distance....but from the sounds of things here i may want to try using full auto single 2......

use full auto single 2 for a day every time you would have done a cripple and you wont go back. your damage wont look as big over their head but after a few missions or what ever you do to kill you will notice its quite powerfull. ANd you will take less damage with everything blind
