BH/Carbs and Pistol Techniques is a very viable PvP template. Don't let others fool you into believing that it's not.

It's not an easy PvP profession.. and it does require some nice krayt carbines and well-sliced armor, but it's awesome in groups and it's pretty darn fun.

There are several threads related to the discussion of BH/Carbineer in PvP on these forums and in the FAQ. Check em out

If you have the bh carb line you only need carbineer 1XXX to speed cap any carbine below 4.0, so you really don't need 3XXX. Just an FYI. Also, this is a very good template, I was BH 2440 and carbs 1444 with the rest in medic, and people were amazed when I'd hit almost every shot on the defense stackers due to the insane accuracy I had.

Right, you'd only need 1xxx if you don't want scattershot2 (being a rifleman you wouldn't need it anyway).

Your template sounds very interesting, but i wouldn't recommand it. Rifleman is so overpowered, you'll find yourself using rifle all the time although you have spent most of your skillpoints in carbines. I bet you'll only use carbines to knock your enemys down and put states on them, then switch to rifle...

If my thoughts are right, i'd recommand you to only do bh carbines or only carbineer... you don't need to be speedcapped to put states on targets or to kd them, with a speedsliced DH17 carbine with speed powerup and form fitted stock (or something like that), you'd be very fast anyway.

How bout Master Carbineer/Fencer 4440/Master Pikeman? Both of those professions are pretty borked, so they require skill to use (I don't like hitting ua hit 3 over and over, which is what I do now). It also gives me a Carbine which is cool, nice defense, and Pikes which are cool. Don't really know how that would work though, maybe picking up master brawler for a faster pike or master marksman for a faster carbine speed? Well, if anyone cares to tell me what you think, let me say thanks in advanced.

Oh, so you know, I'm tryin to decide between Pikeman/Carbineer, Carbineer/MBH or Pikeman/something else. Don't really know what I want to do besides Pike or Carbines, I think they are the coolest. Thanks

Carbineer/Fencer 4440 is pretty kick-ass provided you have speed attachments to speedcap, and optional accuracy SEAs to boost it a bit.

In that sense, Carbineer is like Pikeman in that you need some great weapons, defenses and speed/accuracy attachments to make it work for PvP, at which point it becomes one of the best professions out there, heh.

Carbineer/Pikeman is as gimped as you can go in terms of direct functionality, but again, if you have the speed/accuracy attachments for Pikeman, you'll be an awesome foe. It all boils down to equipment with this template though, so if you have it.. by all means indulge.

If not, it's a bit harder to make this combo work. But again, Fencer defenses complement Carbines very well.

Ya dude dont listen to the FoTm people out there.Carbineer is one of those professions where if you have to really get to know which special is most effective is each situation and you are gonna probibly need high damage krayt carbines of diferent sorts to deal good damage to your enemy. For example i ht master carbineer and had no speed tapes or accuracy tapes of any kinds and the best carbine i had was a krayt laser with 88-389 damage 2.5 speed and i was still very slow with it even though it was a rather quick laser carbine so i decided i was gonna keep carbineer and started buying every set of krayt tissues i could find and had atleast 8-10 carbines made and also started looking for the right AA,s and CA,s and so now i have 4 main carbines i use for damage which are my krayt laser at 88-389 2.5 speed/Krayt DXR 179-311 2.5 speed/Krayt DXR 165-369 3.0/Krayt E11 164-302 2.0 speed/ and a krayt elite which is 178-288 which i dont use much.I also finally got a hold of a ee3 w/mind poison 192 str/133s/55% pot/3k uses/laser carbine 116 str/66% pot/104s/8k uses and im of course always looking for more dot carbines but anyways im master fencer/master carbineer/pistoleer 0341 and novice medic.I have 90 defense vs dizzy and 115 vs knockdown and my other state defenses are very nice for some one running around with a carbine and of course i now have 81 carbine speed making me capped with mostly all my carbines.I would also say dont even bother going mastert carbineer with no bh carbs unless you could afford some speed because 60+ speed at master just doesnt cut it.I have +25 in blind attachments which is really a big help because a blind carbineer is a dead carbineer and i would also always eat accuracy food and invest in accuracy while moving tapes as well.I now have 22+.anyways hope thisd helps good luck

Well, I'm not the poorest guy out there, but I don't think I have enough to buy those +7 attachments. I have a bit over 3 mil, and with the solo nerf I really can't make it as fast as before.

I was looking at Carbineer/Pikeman because they are:
1)Really cool looking
2)More complex than single special spamming
3)Not thought of much in PvP, but I have seen Pikeman and Carbineers win against FOTM templates.

So....if I can't really make insane amounts of money, should I just go for BH?
I kinda wanted to play a Pikeman too, and the choice if I had to decide between the two would be hard.
Carbineer is faster, and more accurate (w/ BH) but Pikeman has better defense. Anyway, thanks for the help.

The thing with Pikeman and Carbineer, though, is that they are difficult to play at the Master level alone without any great/DoT weapons or attachments.

Both professions are very slow and very innacurate, and do require supplemental boosts from other professions. In the case of Pikemen, TK and Fencer are popular choices.. and as far as Carbineer goes, BH or Fencer/TK/Pistoleer stacking always helps.

I mean, don't get me wrong - if you want to try out these 2 professions as is for the fun of it, then by all means you should. You simply won't be able to compete with the top PvPers out there, nor will you be as effective in high-level PvE (Krayts, NS, etc) as everyone else. You'll do fine against most creatures and will win several duels, but it won't be the typical"top-of-line-cant-take-me-down-in-your-face" kinda deal that +25 in speed and accuracy tapes and DoT weapons can bring.

Carbineer is an extremely lethal profession with the right equipment in the hands of the right person. I'm lucky that I can findPvP every day.. and Carbineer simply works wonderfully.

It's the same with Pikeman, too. I believe you need +17 in speed attachments or so to speedcap, and they aren't cheap. Pikemen also miss greatly against defense stackers, and their real damage is in their DoT pikes or high-damage looted weapons - that's it.

Both are very fun, though, and look really cool. I generally think in PvP terms, though (because it's what I do..lol) and whether or not you're able to compete really depends on what you have in your inventory.

Also remember with the speed issue, you can also pick up the +12 FS Speed. It may take a while, but it definitely costs a lot less than corresponding SEA's. After you pick up the +12, you only need another +13 to hit +85 Carbine Speed (cap is now +97 without BH) which can be done easily with +1's and +2's in your armour
