Just so ye know, I used to be BH/Carbineer but the always game-stopping supersaberblock made my all-ranged bh template useless so i began working on swordman.
Sadly I never did get to have both swordman and carbineer counterattack branches at once since i was dropping carbineer skills as i went up the speed/accuracy branches of swordman.
Anyways, to make story short I began to look over my combat logs and I noticed that counterattacks work very much like saber block. Just not as often of course but still....
So i was wondering if theres any info on the counterattack mod?
With carbineer and swordman i can have +155 counterattack.
Is the cap on this +125 like it is in melee/ranged defense?
How much would this 'counterattack'? like.. say.. 60% of attacks? 40%?

CounterAttack is capped at 125.. having more would bea waste of SP/credits, etc.
CounterAttack is also "broken" for Carbineers in that it doesnt really counterattack, nor is it quite as effective as a Swordsman's counterattack.
The really funny part is, I counterattacked more when holding a Carbine when dizzy/KDd and a Jedi was pounding on me with his saber than when I'm fighting standing up against a Rifleman. It's pretty crazy.. the Jedi was missing 1 in 4 shots.. and I was flat on my back.

Counterattack is greatly increased by using CoB.
Counterattack is "activated" about 50% as much as Dodge.
Counterattack has never been a "counter move" so it works just like Dodge.....it could be like Fire KnockDown not really being a Fire Shot.
Some +125 Defense Caps are broken with certain profs.....I don't know and wouldn't say anyway which ones it is

Well TA, I just got carbineer 0.0.4.0 and swordman 0.4.4.0 to test the counterattack.
Carbine equipped, novice marksman using cdef carbine on autofire.
Out of 50 shots only 6 were countered.
I have +155 counterattack (yeah i know it caps at 125 but i just took the extra boxes to do overkill).
That is insanely low for a beyond cap mod.
Worse yet I had a friend master rifleman take shots by the same novice marksman.. he blocked 22 of the 50 shots lobbed at him. And he only has +70 block modifiers.
In comparison, equipped sword and without /center I blocked 16 of 50 ..which is still low but not as bad as with the gun equipped.. did COB and the counterattack rate skyrocketed to 28 of 50. Insane.
So what the heck do I have to do to get my counterattack to help my nonexistent defenses? Take TKA 0.0.0.4 to see if this defense acuity thing fires it up or what?
Im extremely dissapointed.

Nice to see some numbers about counterattack... i was allways wondering why swordsmen who aren't even capped, counterattack so damn muchand my char doesn't even once in the whole fight... ![]()
Defense acuity only works when you're unarmed. ![]()

OK, so what do you want me to do? We have known all of this for many months.....but I can't code this game just report what you say to the Devs.
I have said since I have been Corr that it works half as much as Pistoleer's Dodge....and Novamarine before me was the one who tested it 9-10 months ago and I verified it 6 months ago. And even the Devs have acknowledged that there is a problem with the frequency of Carbineer's Counterattack.
It is on our Top 5 List and even the "Quick-Fix List" for before the CU.
And you really can't test this in PvP, it must be identical PvE targets so the Combat Level is equal along with resists and defenses.
Listen to Addy and me, if you want good Defense, pickup Fencer and Pistoleer.....and TKA doesn't hurt either.....but Defensive Acuity doesn't work either
