10 month player here, only mastered 2 professions in that time. I play for the love of the game and the professions, since december i have been a Doc/TKM. I dropped the Doc to pick up a ranged proffession. I choose Carbine just cause it seemed to be the path least travelled, and let me tell you......

...Im really enjoying it.

I'm pleased with the options for weapons, the specials (upto this point are working nicely), and the speed and damage have been better than I expected (I trolled the Carbine Forums for a few days beforehand )


I was lucky enough to have about 250k of combat XP in the bank to let me start off, Novice Carbines at 0/0/0/2, I am now upto my third bubble on the Combat XP Tree, allready. /cheer

Even managed to exterminate a Rebel on Theed wearing no armor, unbuffed using the specials from that tree alone.

Expect to see me trollin around mildly, while i feel my way into the profession.

We're not without our issues, but it can be a very fun profession (this coming from somebody who swore back in july that he'd never make a carbineer )

I just recently played my Carbineer/Pikeman toon, and man it was a blast. I was doing Janta missions on Dant, and I had forgotten how fun it was to 'control' a small group! I also did some pvp and again got the opportunity to 'control' a small groupof 2 Its nice to get back to some combat after alot of crafting

Glad to see you like our profession! I think you'll find it even more enjoyable as you progress through it to master. If you have any questions about it, check out the stickies. A few of our comrades put a lot of time into those threads so people can benefit from them. If you can't find any answers there, there are plenty of knowledgeable folks around to take a stab at them.

I think you'll find the TKA/Carbineer combo quite versatile. It may not be the most uber combo out there, but it works nicely in a vast array od situations.

Well an update. At this point im 2/4/1/4 and still enjoying it.

In PvP my luck has fallen and has only shined when ive put the gun down and punched or been part of group pvp, solo the Carb hasnt helped.

I've managed to aqquire some neat weapons, including an Exceptional looted CDEF Carbine with sick mods and decent damage. Unfortunately this gun was lost in a botched repair attempt.

Got a crafted Krayt DXR6 Acid Carb with Imp stock and scope. Damage aint so high but the speed is under 3 and range mod in the high 50's. ( A present from the our guilds WS)

Also I was presented a nice Laser Carb with a 283pt Mind Poison "given" to me by a citizen of the Empire, a complete stranger to me. (Being a respected officer has its advantages )

Thinking about having a Krayt Scoped Elite made, just cause they are so darn nice looking.

I've managed to round up almost all i wanted as far as SEA's go.
So far ive collected/purchased/bartered:
+21 Carb Accuracy While Moving (in 3 total SEA's)
+24 Carb Accuracy (in 5 SEA's)
+21 Carb Speed

I'm thinking im gonna hold onto these SEA's till after the CB/Armor Nerf. I dont want to put these on my best set of armor to have it become nerf'd terribly.


Other than that all is swell, cept that my passion for the game has dwindled lots in recent days. Im hangin my hat that CB and JTL will liven up the game for me again.

In the meantime i'll be around trolling the forums.

I was a TKM from Dec 03 to Dec 04

I was a Doc from November 03 to June 04 (when i began to pick up Carbines)

I was a Carbineer from June 04 till Dec 04


I regret that i will be leaving the proffession this week, not becuase im leaving for a silly game that contains Elves and Trolls, but because i received a few presents for Xmas that are too hard to ignore. I just had a very uber Rifleman friend leave SWG for the pastures of EQ2 and he left me all of his UBER rifle gear and guns. This triggered a profession change.

I had lots of fun as a carbineer. I enjoyed it dearly.
I will always champion the fun that was carbines and the great resource that we had on this special proffesion forum.
