I know Carbineer is not well equipped to fight hi-end mobs due to our damage types, but I was hoping to do some loot hunting and was wondering what npc's will give me a chance at looting some great stuff. I understand we can't touch some of the high end nightsisters and such,,,

basically I want to know what the best availabe loot dropping mob there is for Carbineers.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Elders, if you can get someone to tank for you. They have 25% resists to Energy with AR3, but with an AP2 Laser, it's not too bad.. though it could take some time. Getting a Swordsman tank, however, that goes for "max damage" is a sure bet.

Other than that, Protectors are probably the best Nightsisters you can solo, since Sentinels, Stalkersand Spellweavers are resistant to all our damage types. Protectors are actually easy to kill as a speed-capped Carbineer. Rangers can be killed even faster too, but their drop rate isn't that high.

You may be able to solo a Krayt Juvie.. but other krayts are out of the question. That's about it. Oh, the Acklay maybe.. but.. you'd waste a lot of armor, food and buffs and getting down there would be a hassle.. still.. the Geo Lab is somewhat soloable as a Carbineer.

However, by *far* the easiestthing you can do as a Carbineer is to solo group and run Aakuan missions from a mission terminal on Talus. Get two "Large Aakuan Camp" missions beside each other and go back and forth between both to respawn the NPCs and loot them. Using Carbines, it should only take you a few seconds per NPC. Usually you can get a ring or two and even an attachment or two (usually +4 or better) in a buff session, sometimes more. Be sure to hit the Aakuan cave every 45 minutes, too. I've gotten several Defensive armor attachments.. and those dizzy/knockdown +4s and +5s do sell for a bundle.

Still, if you group with people, you're a pretty effective combattant. Considering that Riflemen are strong damagers.. and that we have AP2 instead of their AP3.. we can generally do about 50-75% of their damage if we use a nicely-sliced Laser carb.. which is pretty good I guess.

And remember there are 3 different clans of witches on Dath....all with different resists, so don't get stuck just on Nightsisters. Check out the Singing Mountain Clan and the Spider Clan NPC's as they drop the same loot.

I'm pretty sure, that nightsister protectors have 100% on energy/acid/heat...

And a few days ago, i heard some players talking about akuans inmy sologroup. They saidakuan npcswouldn't drop attachments anymore, only the rings and cloaks... But i don't know where they have their information from, perhaps they only guessed it because they didn't find anything in their last hunt.

Yeah protectors are not to be trifled with unless you can do kinetic or blast damage. No ranged profession can touch these unless they are using either a striker pistol or a launcher pistol.

All of the singing mountain clan that I have encountered thus far has at least one low resist to one of our damage types however. I enjoy hunting them far more than nightsisters when you have to deal with the spellweavers and protectors with there silly resists.

Ah k, my mistake on the protectors. Perhaps it was the sentinels? I know there's one middle-level Nightsister type above Rangers but below Elders that we can kill.. I've just been accustomed to checking their resists all the time, heh.

The SMC and Spider NPCs are also good to hunt, but finding them is always a problem

There are always black sun, I have seen them spawn around the imperial outpost on dathomir, 0,0 on endor, and sometimes near the geo cave on yavin. You also may be able to take some of the death watch solo such as ghosts, there resists arent too bad for a carbineer but they will put some wicked bleeds on you. If you can handle the two kwi at the beginning of the geo cave its not too hard to kill the geonosians inside the cave itself if you can find a decent spawn to work. Most of the stuff in this cave has low enough acid resists that the DXR6 works fine, and for the rest such as the droidekas you can use the laser carb. The key here is to avoid the big spawns, because as soon as you get overwhelmed and start running, odds are you are dead. I have run 300m out of that cave and the kwi have followed me the entire way until I am dead.

I think that I would suggest finding some 8k-20k HAM npcs and just killing them en-masse. I find it easier to kill gobs of these and settle for mid-level loot than it is to struggle to kill a high level mob and pray for loot. Some people will go to Talus and kill NPC's there for hours, you can get missions for most of them and they sometimes drop +3 and up attachments (although most of the time its 1 handed counterattack or polearm damage argh...)

Nothing is more disappointing than killing nightsisters for 3 hours and only looting a nightsister lance with a 40 point health disease dot. The thing to keep in mind when loot hunting is dont set your expectations too high, you have to kill gobs of any NPC to expect decent loot.

Never tried NS elders.... I always run into one of those 100 resists to all but blast and kinetic which would either take me out or send me running for the hills.

The spiderclan cave... I did solo that cave. Was it worth it, time wise? No, probably not. There was some weird bugwhere the tough ones with thehigh resists (something like 90 to acid) just stood there spinning around whileI plugged away atit from 64maway.

Singing mountain clan, as mentioned, are probably the best.

Krayts... fun, fun! Me and a doc/tkm guildmate have taken down everytype up to giant canyon krayts so far. The giant canyon one was a pain at first until I realized it was best to just stand there and tank next to the tkm/doc. Yes, a master carbineer standing toe to toe with a giant canyon krayt. That rifleman that passed by thought I was crazy. Sure it took awhile but after looting that premium qualitypearl, that didnt seem to matter anymore.

Nobody mentioned rancors... I've done quite well in rancor valley.

I personally dont think it is worth it to solo any big MOBs in this game, unless a) you want to say you soloed it or b) you cant find group members who will share loot with you. I was a swordsman for the last 9 months, now doing carbines, and have soloed everything except for the gorax and ancient krayt. Frankly, I would rather go with friends and take down an elder in a couple of minutes vs. 10-15 minutes of watching my armor die only to get a piece of crappy loot. Loot hunting is always better in groups because you can bring down MOBs that much faster. Soloing is nice to say you did it, but with swordsman it was basically, intimidate, mind hit, head hit, head hit, head hit...repeat, replace head hit with Area3 if there is more than one. Maybe it will be more fun with carbs though.
