Thread: Tips for the loner carbineer?
I'm a fairly new carbineer 0/0/3/2, but I have done OK hunting pikets solo on Dantooine. They do BAF so you need to pull one at a time (I do, anyways :smileywink
, but give about 1 to 1.5k exp. each. I like to use powerups when doing these guys, and have lots of stimBs on hand. I'm not sure if they're the best for solo, but they're one of the best I've found so far.

I should have thought harder before I wrote this... ![]()
Pikets give quite a bit more than 1 to 1.5k, probably more like 3 to 4k (in that ballpark anyways). Given that they are relatively challenging for me to solo, it would be better to use them as a way to sharpen your solo skills (learning to pull mobs, etc) than for pure exp. pts., since the exp. pts. gained over time likely isn't as good as other options when soloing. Apologies for the misleading info.
General tips for soloing:
Have high mind secondaries so that your mind almost never drains from specials, carry a crate of tat sunburn, have novice medic and carry a crate of stim Bs.
Having armor and making a macro to put it on can save your hide (even if it's just crappy mabari armor it still cuts damage in half)
Carry a Laser carb, a DXR6, and an EE3, examine your targets pick the best weapon (carry an elite for PvP).
If you go prone at 64 meters and fire an actionshot 1 at a mob, then peace and move back you will be able to pull only that target usually.
find a good chef. Angerian Fishak and a couple of ryshcate will help tremendously. Even Breath of Heaven is better than Sunburn, no focus loss.
Good stim Bs.
carry one more carbine than the ones suggested, a low ham high speed DH17 or Snubbie. These can make a huge difference when everything goes wrong and you have to run while spamming off warningshot and hoping it sticks.
Stay away from higher level NPCs solo. I do it but I like being scared. All the best laid plans go away when a Tusken can deal out 1400 mind damage and one shot you.
I still like Desert Squill for exp. they do mob aggro badly but you can pull singles if patient, they tend to wander around a lot.

Master Carbineer. NOT a BH dabbler.
Prone is great, but it takes a longer time to get up than from kneeling. I kneel, actionshot 1 my target, peace, then stand and move just out of range. As soon as my target aggros and runs in range, I start using Burstshot until it gets close. Then I actionshot 2 for the posturedown, then Burst a few more times. If it gets too close, I'll KD and legshot 3 for stun. Burstshot 1 and 2 are the most efficient shots for damage / HAM cost, unless you have Scattershot 2. Crippling shot is a good finishing blow.
I usually do Tusken Fort, Voritors, Quenkers and Pickets solo with no pet, and have few problems. Tuskens are harder because they are aggro and chain aggro (help each other). Bring many many stims, either good B's if you have only novice, or C's if you have medic skills. Doctor with Carbineer is probably one of the very best combos we have.
