Thread: Is the Elite Carbine any good
I looked at some carbines and dont understand the benefit of the Elite Carbine
My Laser Carbine does like 48-258 and medium AP but the Elites I see do 100-150 with light AP. Granted my Laser Carbine was good and got a good slice but still seems the Elite is not very good.
This hasbeen a long time frustrationg for carbineers everywhere. The supposed "best" carbine isn't really the best at all. At best, it comes in at number 2 or maybe even number 3.
However, with damage mitigation being added to the fold, the elite carbine's stock went up a great deal. Now, for PvP, the elite carbine is the carbine of choice for taking on master level characters that have damage mitigation 3. However, for PvE, the laser is still the weapon of choice.
Yeah. The devs hate carbineers.
I have a few elites. My best will hit for 248-163. With min damage/speed powerup (of which i have five crates stockpiled) it hits for 248-213. Before migitation the damage you get from that thing is pretty much nailed. And that has always been the only good thing about the elite.
Speed sucks, ham sucks for the damage dealt, and its only light armor piercing. I thought that this was supposed to be a masters weapon.
My dream elite.
250-150 dmg ( current ones exist that do just that its just that ham is likely going to be 89/93/80 or something like that.)
base attack 3.0 not 4.0 which seems to be about the norm. Come on now this is a carbine not a rifle.
wound 30% min
medium armor piercing (gimme a break. light armor piercing. I can have an e-11 carbine with stock and scope made that does the same damage with less ham and a higher attack if i wanted that.)
However I have a laser carbine that I like to use in PVP. Dmg is 382-124 with said powerup and speed is 2.4. Have to be buffed to the hilt to use it though cause ham is 75/93/72.
If you PvP the elite is invaluble (due to the damage mit.. ) before the last patch I used a
laser 60-433 damage in PvP but this one cant kill anyone that has made master in a elite
proffession any longer. So I asked a Master Weaponsmith do make a crate of elite carbines for me.
After sliced them all I got a few good ones.
The one I use in PvP these days are 230-310 damage and I use it with speed powerup to get
speed down to 2.6
Things are working rather well with this one.
Let me first say that the MWS on your server must suck, Elites on Radiant are between 107-186, and 108-188. The best is made by Malfunction at 109-189.
If you do the calculations, an Elite is way betterin PvP.
Laser: 42-276.
Elite: 109-189
After mitigation 3 it comes out to:
Laser: 276-42=234. 234x .4=135: 42-135
Elite: 189-109=80. 80x .4= 32: 109-141.
Add the extra 25% for another AP on laser and after all calculations:
Laser: 52-168
Elite 109-141.
Thereis also adifference when you upgrade your gun. Krayt Tissue, Slice, and power-up all make the laser worse and worse, and the Elite better and better. Slices and power-ups don't work in strait adding, they work in multipliers. So, after a +70 Krayt Tissue, 30% Damage Slice, and 16%min 33%max power-up, then subtract for Mit3 and add AP, you get:
Laser: 78-346
Elite: 164-277
On the laser you get 69 more max, but 86 less min. And in PvP, you don't want to be hitting those lows. For an Elite, though, you should be using the stocked model for when you are buffed, and a DH17 for when you aren't buffed. So, if we impliment the stocked models...
Laser: 78-308 (that sounds about right, it's something like that) after stock.
Elite: 149-229
Do the same multipliers as above (krayt tissue, slice, power-up)...
Laser: 146-414
Elite: 224-341
Again, 73 max damage for the Laser vs. 78 min on the Elite. Again, not only do you get more with the Elite, but you don't hit those lows with the laser. This is more important then it seems, again, because of multipliers. What is our main move (other then CS1)? Cripple shot! 7.5 damage modifier. So, let's say you hit the low with the both of them using cripple shot...
Laser: 146x7.5=1095
Elite: 224x7.5=1680
600 damage is a **edit** load, that min damage makes a huge difference, even in PvE. When I finally got cripple, I wanted to test it out. I had it trained at Imp outpost and continued to run Picket Missions... only to find out that my Cripple shot sucked! Because I was using a Laser (unsliced, 16min 33max powerup) and kept hitting those lows.
Switched to DH17 (didn't have an Elite at the time) and even with the lower max damage, it was the min damage that mattered, and I started mowing them down.
Hope that helps.
It's all about multipliers.
