It only takes in effect if your melee or range defenses have failed. Counter-Attack is supposed to make it so you take no damage from the hit and you hit them back for damage and your hit is unblockable. However, right now counterattack is just like dodge. Dodge is a little better I hear because you take no damage and no stat ailments like stun can get through. I am not sure though. Block is broken right now. It lets you take only 1/2 damage from the attacks that hit you.

Melee and Ranged defense makes it so you are harder to hit by reducing enemy accuracy against you. Secondary defenses like Dodge, Counter Attack, Block, and Defensive Acuity don't take effect unless an enemy hits you.

can someone explain how defense, counter-attack, block, and other such skill modifiers work. likehow is the target's defense related to your accuracy and stuff like that
