Thread: Question about the BH/carbineer combo
What do you guys think?
Is it worth going Master Carbineer/ BH 0-3-0-0/ Novice Medic?
Or give up novice Medic and go Master Carbineer/ BH 0-4-0-0?
Whats more important for PvP?
Confusion Shot or Novice Medic?
Novice medic
And yes this template is totally worth it, for PVE and PVP you will be goddly
ok thanks alot. 8)
I'm curious though, which carbineer attack(s) makes up for confusion shot?
I say dump novice medic or skip BH completely. These days, if you're not buffed in 80% comp armor you're going to get your rear handed to you in PvP by someone who is. You'll get some nice speed and accuracy bonues, but the specials are sub-par for PvP. Underhand shot and FireKD are both inferior to charge shot. If you get bounty carbine IV you'll get confusion shot, which is the second best ranged dizzy in the game (spray shot is better, 5.5 or 6.0 mod, dizzy, stun, blind).
FWIW, as soon as the next publish is out and we see what kind of changes are made, I'm most likely dumping novice medic for more carbineer skills. Assuming nothing majorly changes, I'll be MBH + 0/4/3/0 carbineer.
Hmm, well that's 2 opposing opinions. I see what both of you are talking about, and it's definitely making the decision tougher.
Do you really think it's wise to give up bh carbine all together, and go for something like doctor?
My main focus is pvp and I will be buffed and in, at least, 80 % composite.
I would love to get some more input on this.
thanks
I think it's wise to either get the entire bounty carbine line or just forget about BH. You can spend some $$$ and get back most of the speed and accuracy you lose by dropping bounty carbine. I'm telling you now, as someone who's been a BH longer than most have been playing the game, the current state of BH knockdowns in PvP is deplorable. A lot of MBH's are geting charge shot or using spray shot and then suppression fire/action shot to posture change because the KD effect in underhand and fireKD has been nerfed so much. Confusion shot is the only special worth having in the bounty carbine line if you already have charge shot.

Cool thanks for the advice. I guess my final question is:
Overall, is Confusion shot worth it?
And when you say spend some $$$, I assume you mean on weapons and skill mods?
I had the combo you mentioned for a long time and loved it. Crippling shot or scatter shot 2 from the right laser carbine or elite carbine every second can be devastating. Don't underestimate how important the accuracy mods can be too. The 180 accuracy used to help me hit players with very high defenses or dodge scores.
As a kind of aside, I'm not sure I'd bother changing templates until we actually see how all the combat changes are going to work. We know how the new HAM system will work, but the Devs have also said some pretty vague stuff about fixing/balancing everyone's specials and adding/rebalancing all of the weapons.

Confusion shot is a "strong" dizzy. If you look at the dizzy icons above your target's HAM, you'll notice that there are actually two different ones - a pale white dizzy icon and a solid white dizzy icon. The pale icon (what some of us call "dizzy light") has less duration, and is more likely to be cleared by a target. The solid white icon ("strong dizzy") is what keeps NPC's and players down on the ground for a significant amount of time.
FireKD is dizzy light. If you're using it as a dizzy attack then you'll be disappointed. Confusion shot and spray shot are strong dizzy attacks, and when framing a posture change (confusion/spray -> posture change -> confusion spray) it's very effective. So if you're looking for a dizzy attack the yes, confusion shot is worth it.
As for spending $$$, I mean on armor attachments. My PvP armor (60%-80% composite) will have around +15 to both carbine speed and accuracy when I'm done with it. As a master carbineer w/o BH that would but you at +75 carbine speed (I think) which is fast enough to spam specials with damage sliced/powered up weapons.
The other option would be Master Heavy Swordsmen. Trying to hit one of these while they shoot back chargeshot at you then run up and lop off your head in one swing is quite nasty.

I did bounty carbines 3--master carbineer--novice medic and I LOVED it. With a couple of ryshcate's and a BoH in ya' you can spam ANY special, every second, all day long. Funny thing though is, as time went on I stopped using the BH shots. I ended up just doing chargeshot once, followed by cripplingshot about 4 times. By the time they could get up from the KD, if they weren't already dead they were VERY close to it. I actually had one guy burstrun and try to jump on his bike to run away after he got up, he found out the hard way that chargeshot knocks you down even when you are on a bike.
Long story short originally I did it for the speed and acc. boost, then I started using the dizzy but it was too weak so I went back to the carbineer shots and just used the speed and acc. Then I realized that I was spending waaay too many points fora little speed so I'm trying something else now and I feel like a turtle. I did the math and figure that with crippling shot you fire it at exactly the speed of your gun (at master carbineer) now if I could only find a 1.0 speed carbine![]()
One tip though, if you do do it--Stay away from heavy swordsmen that are centered, I hit him easily enough but he countered well over half of my shots then proceeded to bash my head in with a sledgehammer.
Do not expect to be uber-leet and pwn everything you run across--you WILL come close...but some people will still take you out. period.
If your mane goal is pvp drop medic....healing is not aloud in duels.
And if your not going all the way in bh id say dont bother. You would like doctor buffs though and being able to do them yourself is very handy...never enough master docs around wen you need them heh.
